  • Hi Zuccini, If they said you were 25th on the list (even joint 25th) surely this means that you were 25th regardless of other joint people ahead of you. Otherwise it does not seem logical to tell you that you are 25th if in fact you are (as a result of other joint positions above you) actually 52nd! etc. What locations did you tick for Merseyside? Let us know if you hear anything soon and good luck.

Yes, I take your point here - I'd be dangerous with a brain...

I picked Central Liverpool (Edge Hill, Wavertree etc) and the Wirral as I could get to those by train. Would love to think I'll hear soon, but the timescales on here seem to be so random and varied. :undecided

The support on here has helped the past month go a lot quicker than it would have.

I also received this very same letter for a HEO post and a call from the lady in charge of recruitment asking me to confirm which were my preferred work locations. I am hoping it will lead to an actual job rather than a waiting list. From what they told me in the interview, it seems there are quite a number of jobs available and that the DWP wish to fill them by July. Although from reading through this thread maybe that is far too optimistic.:rotfl:

Samr, which area were you successful for? My success pending checks letter is for the West Midlands area.

I'm West Midlands too - Staffordshire. I didn't get a phone call though.
Having read all the stories on here I was going to wait a couple of weeks before I rang them for further info.

I have been following this thread with great interest over the past few weeks and just thought I'd give a rundown of my experience of the recruitment process...

19th March - Attended Numeracy and Literacy tests
21st March - Attended interview (Wiltshire area)
9th April - Received successful (no wait list) letter
14th April - CRB certificate sent to DWP Newcastle
22nd April - Received certificate back from DWP...

    ...The waiting then began!

I made a couple of phone calls and sent emails over the past five weeks to find out what was happening and to make sure I hadn't been forgotten and this afternoon I received a phone call from my first choice Jobcentre giving me a start date of 22nd June and a "taster" day on 19th June! :j

    At last!!!!! :rotfl:
 Great stuff - Hope you enjoy your taster - I wonder if this is something new that DWP are trying. Second time that I have heard of a taster! They might be letting new starters test the water first. Well done. I am waiting on pre employment checks on 3 AO positions, so hope to be in your position soon!:T

Hi-I think that the reason behind Experian based checks, are more to do with ID and address verification, not personal debt. This company holds an enormous database of information, and if anyone has applied for any type of credit over the last x number of years, it is odds on that this company would have supplied that info to potential lenders, including address verification, electoral roll, utility companies etc. This can be used to confirm that somebody has lived where they say they have lived, at a particular moment in time. As far as bankruptcy is concerned, a number of employers, and banks will ask the same question `Are you an undischarged bankrupt` The reason behind this, I think, is that an undischarged bankrupt has restrictions when it comes to borrowing money, so this may have more to do with legal implications, rather than a bar to employment.
Can I ask that when you spoke to DS they specifically said that it was a credit history check, or Experian based? As I said, this company holds all sorts of info on individuals.;)

Good point now you mention it the actual phrase was 'experian background check' - so perhaps you're on to something here :) I'll have to wait and see I guess

A quick check on google reveals the experian background check helps establish: -

    • Are they really who they say they are?
    • Did they really work for that company?
    • Did they go to that university?
    • Are they really financially stable?
    • Do they have a criminal record?
Are they financially stable does come up , but perhaps that is a smaller part of the bigger picture they look at?

Also just to update on my own position newcastle have told me they only started doing their checks 6 days ago (even though DS sent my paperwork back to them on 3 weeks ago - so they obviously started their checks prior to that!) - Just waiting on them to get their act together now I think. The contact I have locally has been very helpful and will be chasing etc... But I think it's just a waiting game while the cogs at HR at newcastle grind around. Aparently they have 5,000 checks they are doing which is why it's taking so long.

    HI ALL

Anybody waiting to hear back from the AO recruitment process for Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth??

    IRC 58265?

I had my interview on the 1st of May at the Oval cricket ground and have not heard yay or nay since. I've called various numbers a few times and keep getting fobbed off.

    Thanx

I spoke to them about this position yesturday, they have said they will be sending out letters this week. To be honest i think a start date will not be until about mid/end of July.

    Update on my application.
Letter recieved 26th May confirming I was successful, and they were now undertaking pre - recruitment checks.
I called the contact number on the letter today for an update and was told my details were sent off on the 19th May and they are expecting confirmation for my "batch" by the end of June.
The process is very very slow. They seem to be sending off details in batches and have to wait for confirmation for the entire batch. They then advise the local business team who contact applicants individually. I remember during my interview being told the recruitment process target is to hire 10,000 people nationally.
    Hope this helps.

Well i FINALLY got to speak to the person dealing with my forms. He told me my disclosure scotland had been sent off, i told him they didnt have it. He opened my file and surprise surprise it was still sat there! He said someone on overtime was supposed to have done them. He also lost some of my identification (gave them everything they needed on interview day) so ive had to scan stuff into my pc and email it to him. I must say the dwp seem very disorganised! I have his number and email now so at least i can call him directly and check things are moving in the right direction.

Thats great news - were you in the batch before me at Southampton? my interview was on the 19th April. When I spoke to the guy doing my recruitment checks, he told me that everyone in my batch hadnt passed their checks as yet and that the DS forms werent sent til they were.

So as you can imagine, I was expecting an ever longer wait to hear anything. BUT! I had a phone call yesterday morning from someone in jobcenre plus offering me a start date in Farnborough! Unfortunately I had to turn it down - Im down in portsmouth so Farnborough would be a pointless and long journey for me, but Im confused as to how they can offer me a position when only the day before the guy at newcastle said it would be weeks yet til all the checks were cleared???!!!! SO CONFUSING!

Obviously Im pleased that I got a phonecall - the woman I spoke to said that she was working her way down a list so not to worry. I said Id love to take a position if it was closer to home (as opposed to over an hour or more by car!!!) she said that i might get a phonecall back from her or someone else over the next few days for someone else...but who knows??!
Anyone else had this situation? x

I got a call in May to say I was successful. Then someone from the actual jobcentre I am starting in rang and told me I probably would not get a confirmation letter before I started. Told me just to turn up at 9.30 at the staff entrance. Maybe worth calling the jobcentre instead of Newcastle? A lot of people on here just turned up on their start date without any confirmation letter. I only got mine yesterday and I start Monday.
