    Hi John,

Just out of interest what is your time line over the last 5 months? Where are you at now? What area and what grade? Might be helpful to others to know this!!!

    Grade:EO (East London)
    IRC55738

Can't remember the application close date.
Feb 9th - Invited for Numeracy and Literacy tests in Newham
Feb 27th - Invited for interview
March 5th - Successful Letter posted
    March 29th - CRB received
    April 12th- References contacted
May 5th - Called Newcastle, Pre- checks completed, was told details would be passed over to 'business' for start date.

still waiting, also on success letter or phonecalls no mention of waiting list.

    Congrats, i've been waiting 5months+ :( FML

Exactly there are people who have been waiting for a long time; for my ao position I was at the bottom of the merit list, please dont forget that many of us were/are joint together with other candidates, so I was told that I might have to wait for more than 3 months. I think that if your basically on a waiting list, dont stop looking for work elsewhe;I think as said above, its the best advice.

Good Luck I hope it ll be soon! From what Ive read in this forum, could it be that for London in particular the process takes longer?Im sure that there are hundreds of posistions to fill though..

Well i FINALLY got to speak to the person dealing with my forms. He told me my disclosure scotland had been sent off, i told him they didnt have it. He opened my file and surprise surprise it was still sat there! He said someone on overtime was supposed to have done them. He also lost some of my identification (gave them everything they needed on interview day) so ive had to scan stuff into my pc and email it to him. I must say the dwp seem very disorganised! I have his number and email now so at least i can call him directly and check things are moving in the right direction.

Sounds like I've been incredibly lucky then!

I applied mid March, was invited to assessment on 20th April, interviewed on 21st April and received a successful letter on 14th May.

On 4th June I was invited in for a "taster" on 9th June. The same day I received a call asking me if I could start work on Monday 15th June. They have not received my checks back yet...

Has anyone else experienced this at all?

I attempted to negotiate my starting salary, but to no avail. However they have changed the office I'll be starting in, so I'll have a 5 mile round trip rather than 50. I was also informed there will be a recruitment drive for Band D beginning imminently and I would be allowed to apply for that.

Hiya. I remember you saying that you had your assessment /interview in southampton. Did you have a contact name on your successful letter? Mine was left blank after yours sincerely. Could I have the contact number you've been trying as I am hoping that its the same person i may need to contact. Btw what position did you apply for??

    Thanks :D
  • I did Southampton - The no. on the letter is 0191 2183421.

  • No, not heard anything else directly from them since my letter on 7th May. At the time I was around 25th on the list (but joint 25th, meaning there could be more joint positions above me). Since then they've run mop up interviews at Fairview on 17th May (see previous posts) so I could be further down by now??

So if, as you say, they are doing checks on the first 50 that should take quite a while - I'd wager that nobody will hear anything until they are all done. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything.

Hi Zuccini, If they said you were 25th on the list (even joint 25th) surely this means that you were 25th regardless of other joint people ahead of you. Otherwise it does not seem logical to tell you that you are 25th if in fact you are (as a result of other joint positions above you) actually 52nd! etc. What locations did you tick for Merseyside? Let us know if you hear anything soon and good luck.

Oh no. Really feel for you! Hope it gets moving quickly from now on.
  • Hi everyone

I have been accepted for an EO position at Sunderland and recvd. a 'succesful but on the waiting list' letter.
I called last week for an update and the guy told me that the Sunderland office has not yet decided how many new starters are required, so the HR department have sent out the same waiting list letter to all succesful applicants in order to keep everyone's mind at rest.

Has anyone heard if this is true and / or any more news??
