    Hi everyone

I have been accepted for an EO position at Sunderland and recvd. a 'succesful but on the waiting list' letter.
I called last week for an update and the guy told me that the Sunderland office has not yet decided how many new starters are required, so the HR department have sent out the same waiting list letter to all succesful applicants in order to keep everyone's mind at rest.

Has anyone heard if this is true and / or any more news??

You should ask what position on the merit/waiting list you are, then when you find out how many new starters are required, you will have an idea whether you will be in the "successful, pending pre-recritment checks" group or on the waiting list. GOOD LUCK
  • Hello everyone

I my disclosure scotland came today in the post. Do i have to now send it to Newcastle or will they have receivced a copy.

Am a bit confused as to what i need to do now.
  • HI ALL

Anybody waiting to hear back from the AO recruitment process for Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth??

    IRC 58265?

I had my interview on the 1st of May at the Oval cricket ground and have not heard yay or nay since. I've called various numbers a few times and keep getting fobbed off.

    Thanx
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:

Send it to Newcastle recorded delivery (it might get misplaced). Only standard and enhanced disclosures get a copy sent to both the employer and applicant.

I got a confirmation letter today (start date 15th June). It has a little bit about the pensions scheme and says we will receive more information about it in our starter pack. So could any of the new starts tell me which scheme you went for and why? :o

You can also scan and email it to them if you can get an email address for the person dealing with your application.

hi there, you may not have read my previous posts, but I am in a similar position, however, the 'successful but on the waiting list' is for the whole of the South Tyne & Wear area as far as I'm aware, and not just the Sunderland city office. I was told that everyone on the waiting list (over 100) would be posted, and this has been confirmed now by two HR staff. However, the unknown appears to be whether or not this is the gospel truth, and the timeframes involved. Have you found out your merit number on the list?
  • I have been following this thread with great interest over the past few weeks and just thought I'd give a rundown of my experience of the recruitment process...

19th March - Attended Numeracy and Literacy tests
21st March - Attended interview (Wiltshire area)
9th April - Received successful (no wait list) letter
14th April - CRB certificate sent to DWP Newcastle
22nd April - Received certificate back from DWP...

    ...The waiting then began!

I made a couple of phone calls and sent emails over the past five weeks to find out what was happening and to make sure I hadn't been forgotten and this afternoon I received a phone call from my first choice Jobcentre giving me a start date of 22nd June and a "taster" day on 19th June! :j

    At last!!!!! :rotfl:

I thought I had left this thread behind after being unsuccessful with at interview for an EO position but this morning I had a success letter for a HEO position. :D

Letter says 'We are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks and you will be contacted again once these are complete to confirm whether or not we are able to offer you a post'.

Is this a waiting list letter or if my checks are ok am I likely to be offered a position or is it just wait and see? :rotfl:

I also received this very same letter for a HEO post and a call from the lady in charge of recruitment asking me to confirm which were my preferred work locations. I am hoping it will lead to an actual job rather than a waiting list. From what they told me in the interview, it seems there are quite a number of jobs available and that the DWP wish to fill them by July. Although from reading through this thread maybe that is far too optimistic.:rotfl:

Samr, which area were you successful for? My success pending checks letter is for the West Midlands area.

Hi Zuccini, If they said you were 25th on the list (even joint 25th) surely this means that you were 25th regardless of other joint people ahead of you. Otherwise it does not seem logical to tell you that you are 25th if in fact you are (as a result of other joint positions above you) actually 52nd! etc. What locations did you tick for Merseyside? Let us know if you hear anything soon and good luck.

This really makes sense; when I was 89th out of 90 on the merit list of the job that I didnt wait to take after all, I was told I was joint with 10 people. The selection would be according to our numeracy and literacy results. This is what I had been told. Also, they wanted 90 people really but they sent successfull/no waiting list letters to the first 85 of the list. The rest of us got waiting lists letters where there were no guarranties. The striking thing was that after a while the whole exercise was repeated for both ao and eo in Leicester. Thats why I carried on going for the eo position and Id advise everyone to carry on looking for work to have your options open. All the best.
