Not holding my breath though. Have about 10k debts in total, most date back a while the CCJ is very recent though. I actually went to the trouble of getting a solicitor and sorting out dmp's with all my debts just about 5 months ago. Oh well. Just have to wait and see now I guess.
I am 3 months into bankruptcy, which I disclosed on all my forms. I'm guessing it makes no difference if they've asked me to start on Monday.“I contend that we are both atheists. Tobiwan that's great news and lifts me thanks for being so frank. Had kind of given up on the job to be honest and was somewhat gutted. I've spoken to the person locally and was told once my checks have completed I would definately be starting - which made the prospect of not getting the job because of past credit problems all the harder to swallow.
There's still hope then - thanks again for your reply :beer:whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0 -

I don't see how it's relevant - At least you are doing something about the credit problems, surely that's a positive thing!“I contend that we are both atheists. Yes I did call DS - it's actually Newcastle I need now as DS said they sent it all back 3 weeks ago, and I just want to find out what the current status of it is with Newcastle.
Hi Apol - from what I understand is the Dis Sco people should send the certificate back to you if that was the return address you gave. However some in recruitment exercises including mine (Kent county) we were told to give the Newcastle office address to speed up the process. If you were in the former, you should get it direct from DS, however the latter will have an extra wait as they have to check the certificates and then (I suppose) pass/fail you(?) and forward the certificate to you (it's your application/property).
You may have noted down the application form number? If not, when you phone Newcastle they can give you this (they did for me), but they are able to notify you of dates so don't take no for an answer!
All I can say/emphasise is phone ... phone ... phone again. Initially I was a bit naive and took c**p for an answer, but then I was assertive and they were remarkably helpful.
PM me if you want.0 -
there is no "general" telephone number. Each person has their own direct line which will be on correspondance. ringing a "general" line or any other number you find on here will not achieve anything other than making both parties annoyed!
would you phone welsh tourist information board for scottish sights? NO!
Dear Sigrid,
You have no credibility on this board and your comment WRT my post just proves that you also don't read every word of every poster. You are selective in your reading and disruptive in your feedback! We are trying to help one another through our experiences of this process and you only serve to demonstrate that the the customer service provided is fatally flawed and your customer service competence on a scale of 1 to 4 where 1 is the most competent is a sorry 4 and would be ranked with the Big Brother morons of this world.
Good night and God bless.

PS There IS NO general number, hence why my 'general' comment was in inverted commas as it IS NOT entirely general, but ... in my case a SE number (in fact, 1 of 4 I've been given). With your poor listening, reading, etc skills you obviously missed that point.0 -

This sigrid bloke has been a selective t reader with me too. Filling the inner gaps I'd say is the issue. Dont bother, carry on the point is that we help each other.0 -
Yeah for sure I can second the ethos of everyone helping each other. To be honest this thread and other similiar threads on moneysavingexpert have been a real help throughout the whole process - I've mostly dipped in now and again, but ever since I found them shortly after applying they have been invaluable in terms of figuring out just how to tackle the interview and what to expect throughout the whole process. Then once again today I am able to get great advice from them by airing my concerns about a less than perfect credit history - and the newly realised fact that part of the checks concern your credit history. Where else would I be able to find someone let alone get their feedback on how their own process has gone with respect to a less than perfect credit history? The thread has been invaluable for me - and win or lose, in terms of getting the job - there's no denying just how great moneysavingexpert has been throughout and all the people on here for sharing their experienceswhinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0

Can I ask that when you spoke to DS they specifically said that it was a credit history check, or Experian based? As I said, this company holds all sorts of info on individuals.;)0 -
Today I called Disclosure Scotland and they have no record of me there. I then spoke to someone in Newcastle and they said the form was sent at the beginning of May. If that's true I don't understand why it's taking so long or why DS say they have not received it.0

Hi Grace. I Had exactly the same problem with the phone either not being picked up or engaged. In the end I called a different number (completely random DWP number) & gave them the IRC reference number. They put me through to the named person on the acceptance letter who then put me through to someone else who said that due to a change of office the checks are taking a bit longer than expected.
However, Aoki stated on here a few pages back that she had received a phonecall offering her a start date for a Central London position.
Conclusion.....don't hold your breath waiting for the DWP & keep applying for other jobs if possible0
