Icesave FSCS. Did you get it? Is it all sorted.

My parents had to fill out a paper application in the end, and were kept in the dark for a long time before they saw anything from them.
I told them to keep calm as they were going to be repaid; they've got it and put it in the bank now; unfortunately into their standard savings as my mum lost confidence in ISA's.
Oh well, either way, they have their money, and its safe and sound now!0 -
Myself and my wife each have a fixed rate account. We have not yet received our paper application forms.
It appears to me that the FSCS helpline is giving out inconsistent (and incorrect) information. For example, if you read through all of the Icesave threads as I have done, there are various replies that the FSCS helpline staff have given to different MSE members that have called in the last couple of weeks to enquire about the sending out of paper applications to fixed rate account holders, including:
1. The forms are being sent out in batches and it will take several weeks for them all to be sent
2. The forms were all sent between 17th Dec and 23rd Dec (this is what I was told!)
3. The forms are being sent out over the next 2 or 3 weeks.
4. The forms are not being sent until January.
Clearly, a batch of forms has been sent out to some fixed rate account holders and those arrived on 19th/20th/22nd December. Since then, nobody seems to have reported receiving a form although there are clearly plenty of fixed rate account holders waiting for them. Those people (me included) feel as if we are in the dark, and would really appreciate an accurate up-to-date statement from the FSCS on the position and progress regarding the sending out of these forms to fixed rate account holders. Can you help out please Martin?0 -
I have a fixed rate account and have decided to leave it as it doesn't mature until August 2009. All going well so far in that I received the two emails, and the paper form on the 20th December, all filled in and ready to post.0

Received first e-mail. Never received second - despite checking all spam. Tried to log on to claim via web. Account locked & could not be reset. Phoned FSCS as well as leaving message on their website. Received paper claim form a few days ago. Returned it. No acknowledgment yet. StillWaiting0

Savings and ISA received through online process very smooth and hassle free. Received all e-mails etc..
However, opted to retain fixed term, maturity May 2009. Still waiting for paper application relating to this account which apparently have all been sent out according to some posters. Will be 'phoning FSCS myself next week if not received. I'd rather get the information direct than 2nd hand on here.
My vote went to "other" but could have voted for three of the other options!? So yet another incomplete and irrelevant poll on MSE!0 -
'Polls' of this sort are useless anyway, as the sub-set of users who choose to respond are not representative of any greater sample.
I am tempted to start a poll asking how long people think the banner that says
o Until end 2008
o Until end January 2009
o Until hell freezes over0 -
I e mailed icesave yesterday re fixed rate accounts and got this response today. It appears that all application forms have not yet been sent out.
Dear Icesave customer
Thank you for your recent enquiry.
Please note that due to higher than usual demand it may take us longer to answer your calls and emails, and we are currently unable to provide you with a personalised response. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Customers who have elected to keep their fixed rate account until maturity will need to complete a paper application form.
We are currently processing these requests and application forms will be sent out very shortly.
Please refer to our website for further information, which contains Frequently Asked Questions about Icesave http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/.
However, if you are still unsure about any matter, please call our helpline on: 0845 7300 131 (Icesave enquiries only). We will try to respond to your query as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully0 -
I've received the money from my and my wife's Easy Access Account and my two ISAs in mid-November. My wife's Isas took a bit longer as she didn't receive the second e-mail. When I saw the statement that everyone should have received the second e-mail I went onto the Icesave site and was able to submit a claim. We got that money back in early December. We've got the ISA certificates through know. I've put mine into NatWest but I'm still looking for a good deal for hers.
I've opted to keep my Fixed Rate savings with Icesave and I sent the form off yesterday, unfortunately it wasn't 'til after I'd posted it that I realised that I hadn't filled in my Icesave Account details! D'oh! I've sent them an e-mail apologising for my incompetance and asking them if they'll send me another form.

I got the paper forms a week or so ago, no problems whatsoever.0

Very efficient. I was in Australia for 12-months and worried that I might have difficulties, but no problems. Wondering now how to open a new ISA from over here as I don't return to UK until after the re-invest deadline... Any ideas?0
