Is CSA1 an exact science? (if so where can I get a copy of the formula) -merged-

...I think that a man that can't afford his first family but..

Prior to my ex meeting a boyfriend on the internet and decided to move him into my bed displacing me of my family, we never had a money problem. I have worked all my life. We even got tax credits to boot. Running the family home never cost anything close for what the CSA have screwed me for.

We were not flush, but enjoyed a nice car, a family summer holiday, owned our home and I had a job I enjoyed. Typical middle britain.
The CSA is unjust, oppressive and discriminates men. If you tell me otherwise then 2 and 2 is 5, and you have a Ph.D in rendering bovine fecal matter.

Sorry missed it. Its £2772. Council tax is about £763 plus a couple hundred bailiffs fees. I have not paid rent or council tax over a year. CSA maintenance formula doesnt allow it as a non dependant.

Ok...I have asked again on the other post.

£2772 to CSA is not a large amount by any means. CT does seem very, very high. Is this per year?

You would be better off paying the arrears off...just make sure the arrears figure is correct by demanding an account breakdown. Then move in with your girlfriend, get re-assessed and that's that.

Then you pay your girlfriend back.

Your thinking is wrong by saying going on JSA is going to solve your problems. I would miss that bit out.

Great. You have summarised well. Tell Stephen Lawson this.

That was OTOH but i do intend a proper case cummary for legals.

Are you going to meet him in slippers ( sorry couldn't resist this )? Can you afford to get your existing shoes re-soled? ;)

great to have a chuckle about it, shame the CSA doesnt see the funny side. Id laugh if re-soling my work shoes cost more than £39.99. (rubber non-slip stuff anyway)

Did you know bankruptcy ...I had picked up on this before, but not said anything... does not clear CSA arrears?

Unfortunately yes I do know, ditto council tax, but it clears bailiffs fees (which are unlawful anyway) and all civil debt.

I still cannot get my head round this. You have a very well paid girlfriend ( long suffering me thinks) who is expecting your baby. But you are talking as a single person.

Thats because I am single. I live alone. My girlfriend lives elsewhere. Just because she is expecting doesnt make her liable for my debts.

And you still haven't answered my question. How much are you in arrears?

its about £21,000 excluding what my g/f has paid. I have about £155,000 of debts in total. Long story.

But you just don't know whom you are responding to on the internet.

yeh, thats true, but ive kept personal info out of my posts. Nothing to lose by picking brains. I am assembling the case now. Its mind-numbingly boring! Id make a carp solicitor!

If your protected income is £242 per week, then you can't pay anything due to the fact that if you do, what you have left takes you below that. Try not paying and letting them do a DEO - it will fail. Then you ask for a reassessment again. If they are successfully taking money via a DEO it means that you are in fact being left with your protected income amount and must be earning the money for them to be able to do so.

If you are in such huge debt, why are you having a baby? Or is it going to be all the financial responsibility of your new partner?

Is it just me or is anyone else thinking that figures and circumstances are just not adding up? CSA can be guff by anyones standards but I just don't get why a reassessment was not done when (if?) it was requested or when (if?) the change in hours was notified.
