Summer holidays - will you be having one?

We never go on holiday in the summer as everywhere is infested with kids.0

We never used to go in summer because of business commitments, and it's a habit now. Anyway, we live where other people come for holidays and there's a wealth of day trips within an hour or so's drive. We'll probably go out on for some long days too in the summer.
Like others here, we pitched-up in Pembrokeshire this autumn, as we often do. It was dirt cheap and the weather was lovely. In all the years we've had autumn holidays, I can't think of a day when the weather kept us in.0 -
Going off to New York in a couple of weeks then a roadtrip around Canada in the summer.
And just to p*ss you all off we're going to pay for it via a credit card, an ocean finance loan and equity release on the house.0 -
we have been to cyprus for the last 3 years running but with the euro we may go elsewhere or not at allremember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice

Am not booking a holiday for a full year as I had a lot of work done on my sitting-room (replastering, decorating, carpeting etc), so to make up for that cost, I am not booking until next summer. My next holiday may well be back to Cape Town in March 2010. (So flights booked in August or so).
A nice cheap holiday in the sun as the Rand has not strengthened against the Pound.

Holidays are my personal luxury, usually spend around £2000 a year on them. Planning a mini-tour of South America next yearpoppy100

Ditto. I can't think of a single travel experience where I've thought "hmmm, that was a waste of money". Can't say the same of my other ill-judged purchases (the Wii that got played 5 times springs to mind).0 -
Not sure at the moment as we usually borrow my parents static caravan for a couple of weeks for no fee but it isn't possible next year....looking around at the prices, there is no way I can afford even a few days at the current prices. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Do you think prices are any different now to 3, 4 or 5 years ago? I know the euro rate is not great at the moment, but other than that?0 -
Yes I do but then I only ever holiday in the UK.....I have no idea about holidays out of this country.
5 years ago, a comparable caravan at the site we go to was around the £500 mark for 2 weeks, now it is closer to the £1k.
For me it seems really expensive because I have had the free use of a caravan from my parents for the last few years, they own a static caravan on a holiday site in Great Yarmouth...plus 1k seems an awfully huge sum of money to spend on a holiday, I could feed and clothe the children for months on that.We made it!
