I will be going away this year but i doubt it will be abroad, the prices seem to have gone up not down, and i cant see it getting any better, if you do it seperate its cheap, but most people want the whole package.

I paid just a little over a 1000 pound to go to ibiza for 14 days for the 4 of us last year, the same holiday this year is 2500 pound, so i know i wont be going there this year.

The thing is when people stop spending the ones left who want to go on holiday will be paying premium prices to go, you go back 2 years and everyone was going abroad, now thee airlines and holiday companies only have one option to stilll survive and that is to put the prices up for the little custom they will be getting.

Happy holiday for those who can afford it:T

You need to do holidays dmg24 style! I'm off to Marrakech on the 12th, three nights hotel + flights for £120 ... and that's expensive for me! ;)

My holiday plans are not changing this year, I always try to have at least three holidays (2006 had five, 2007 four). I've already booked for Marrakech twice, plan to go to New York and Washington later in the year (exchange rate dependent!), and I quite fancy Budapest too. If I've got any time left, I'll nip over for the German Christmas markets!

I went to budapest in november 2007 and it was great, we went to the german market, mind you if you like budapest, you might want to try Krakow, its nice there in the big market square.

Hmm, now I'm dithering about the trip to California to see the in-laws. I haven't seen them since 2006 and it would be great to see them, but the flights are going to cost us a grand. Shouldn't be too expensive on top of that as we'll be staying with family, but I'm starting to think about all the other things we could do with a grand, and what would happen if I were to get made redundant, and how much cheaper it would be just to go camping in Wales... sigh.
  • another staycation i think...............

I like the sound of staycations. Get the tent up in the back garden, inflatable pool up, cook outside. Great fun.

the delights of being double income no kids: we're off to berlin at the end of january, australia in april and then somewhere else as yet undecided for a proper summer holiday.

unless the pound gets devalued of course.

We'll be going to Florida (Gulf Coast, Anna Maria Island) this summer (again) and maybe Egypt in the autumn - OH dives and the Red Sea is quite passable.
It's the other way round for us (me & OH).
    • Egypt in February for a week (paid in full with Tesco Clubcard Deals vouchers).
    • New York in May for 6 nights (direct flights were £132 each inc taxes).
    • Florida for 2 weeks again (Gulf Coast, Naples) in September.
Plus the odd weekend in Ireland to see the in-laws.

The spending money for New York (and some of Florida) was loaded onto a pre-paid currency card last year at a rate of $1.86. :)

We save £220 a month for holidays. This covers spending money too.

We've already got £900 of un-used Tesco vouchers which we will add to this year and use for a holiday in 2010.
