Oh and mum was trying to treat me like I was 12 again....I can make a cup of tea mum!
I had the same thing when I was home for xmas....though my mum always goes on about not having my coat on when I go out...she forgets I'm 35 and a SoldierIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Meals are done if you bring in the food yourself and cook it yourself, but only for you as nobody likes what you like. Or you can choose any of the seriously out of date old cack in the fridge (up to 3 weeks old cream cake for example - offered as a tasty treat).
Seriously, don't let your parents go ga-ga.0 -
I had one coffee made while I was there. One was a risk in itself. Took a swig, it tasted odd ... I sniffed it and said "I can't quite put my finger on that smell/taste". Had another taste and it dawned on me ... mum had made a coffee in the mug she'd used for a Hot Lemsip. So it had started with a quarter inch of cold Lemsip dregs and she'd not noticed, not washed it out, just made me a coffee on top of that.I can make a cup of tea mum!
Made my own after that.0 -
Eeeekkk!
I made several cups of tea while I was at my parents and she was fine with it but during the night I couldn't sleep so got up to make myself a cup of tea...mum was having a bad night as well as dad couldn't settle, so she came down to check to make sure I was ok and if I wanted her to make my cup of tea in case I had an accident.
She even offered to bring my bedding down and make up a bed on the sofa..all very nice of her to offer but I am a grown insomniac woman and am pretty used to it all now.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I am a grown insomniac woman
I found this hard. Being confined to the bedroom (in a small/creaky house with chains/bolts/locks and 2 doors to step outside). I couldn't sleep until 4-5am most nights and wanted to feel able to get up and potter about/go outside, sit in the dark back garden having a cig, or just sit there. But it'd cause disruption with being checked up on etc.
I couldn't sleep because I couldn't walk and wander. It was a vicious circle. I felt trapped. They don't know about my speshulness and they wouldn't understand. They'd just call me mad and laugh their heads off at how ridiculous I was being, so it's all my secret.0 -

My mother says the only time her father ever seemed to recognise she was older than 12 was when she was 8 months' pregnant with my brother, her 4th child. He said, "aren't you getting a bit old for all this?"
She rated that as the least helpful thing anyone had ever said. What was she supposed to do, change her mind?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Seriously, don't let your parents go ga-ga.
But I'm afraid they do, in the end.
The 'phone would wake me at 4 a.m. and I'd hear something like: 'Well where are you then? I've been sitting, waiting, all afternoon!'
You suddenly realise; it's pay-back time for all those nights on the razzle, when you didn't come home at the agreed hour!0 -
I certainly intend to go on holiday this year. May as well put my redundancy pay to good use.0

we are definately going. I wont say where or when but holidays are so important, me & OH just dont get to spend enough time together

We have had a busy one in December though as we went to Vegas and Amsterdam for NY so cant really think about it just yet. Could have picked a better time with the exchange rate I suppose but lifes for living if you can and of course we got good deals
We have made the resolution that we should be saving for holidays this year and not jsut going on them and using the money out of general savings. Although the marrakech idea appeals
DMG you have made me want to start looking! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
