Well, I am extremely p----d off with Barclays. I applied online, as we were supposed to, and officially the account was opened on 16th January. Barclays have confirmed that I am indeed entitled to the £100 (deposits on 19th January and 18th February) but, having called the original 0500 number on several occasions and been told something different each time, as to why I hadn't got the money, I e-mailed them a week ago. I get a letter in reply, saying they will report back to me 'no later than 27 April'.....
So I call the number on the letter, only to be told they're still investigating and when I say other people have been paid - why not me, since I opened the account so early on - the woman actually says this might be the reason!
I ask you.
Still, she did say that I didn't have to leave the cash in the account in order to receive the £100, so it's going back into my savings account today.0 -

E-mail sent at lunchtime today saying they are reviewing the remainder of the accounts. Anyone who met the criteria in the T&C's, will receive the £100 by the end of this week.
Let's see if we all have it in our accounts by Saturday.
We had the self-same Email msg earlier in the week. Nothing recvd in wife's a/c as of this morning. Still checking!Expect the worst & hope for the best...0 -
Well my 28 days was up yesterday, and no £100 for me either. Complaint written and sent in. They are "investigating". I made a point of copying their own T&Cs for the offer in the complaint and highlighting how I had complied with ALL of them.
Its odd because a guy who applied on the 19th January about 1 hour after me has been paid his £100 and weeks early. I applied at around 8:30am on the 19th.
He also had to take ID and such stuff into a branch were as my account went through without it.
Hmmm.. We will see.0 -
Just 'phoned the 0500 number to enquire about missing £100. Initially was told it's not 28 days but 28 working days - after asking where it stated that I was put on hold for ages and then eventually advised the £100 would be credited today. So "by the end of this week" as an earlier poster was advised might prove correct. Whether or not the payment does materialise I think a complaint is still relevant. Would the FSA also be a suitable body to send a complaint?0

You have to exhaust the banks complaints procedure first before you go to the FSA.0 -

I don't think its worth the effort of a complaint, because you won't get much benefit. If you complain to Barclays, they may give you some additional compensation, but its unlikely (they're already giving the £100).
Your next point of call is the Financial Ombudsman Scheme; their main remit is to put you in the position you should have been - they're not going to require Barclays to give huge amounts of compensation (for a few days delay).
The FSA's would be interested if there were systematic failings; Barclays are resolving the issues in a reasonable time, so they don't have much to critique them with. All organisations get it wrong sometime (though some get it wrong more often).
So just think of this as an easy £100 and go with the flow. If they don't pay - that's a different matter.0 -
