URGENT Free £100 Loophole discussion: MoneySavingExpert.com discussion

Account opened 27/01/06, 1st £1000 on 02/02/06, 2nd £1000 on 09/03/06. 28 calender days, from 2nd deposit, is tomorrow according to my counting. No £100 this morning so 'phone call to Barclays imminent! I'll probably threaten to close the account :rolleyes:

If, as may happen with some customers who opened this account, Barclays do not pay the £100 "within 28 days" thus breaking their own terms and conditions, what penalty can be imposed on them for this breach?
The banks are quick enough to penalise customers who don't comply so what if the boots on the other foot?

My 28 days was up yesterday. I rang this morning and was told that no-one had had their £100 pound yet (which I obviously contested!). Was told to wait until Friday as the 28 days was only just up (that's what they've been told to tell customers - they've been getting a lot of calls about it). Will wait until Friday then ring again and put in a complaint. Very hit and miss as to when folks are getting it.

she has raised a complaint o both mine and OH accounts as we are now over the 28 days.
They are in breach of T&C's, she said we would hear possibly in a week but there is a huge backlog

No £100 for me yet either. They seem to be making up rules as they go along, asking me to jump through hoops, ie do this do this wait this long then this, and still no dosh.

So here are my t&c's
£50 fee for failure to honour contractual terms
£5 per day whilst still in breach
interest at their unauthorised rate
£25 per phone call
£30 per letter

just for starters!

We applied for our a/c's on day of Martin's e mail. No problems to date but no £100 yet. Paid in 1st £1k on 1 Feb & 2nd £1k on 6 March so our time is about up I think?

except they are unlawful charges and what a lot of people are fighting the banks over lol

I'm very pleased to say that I've now lost the itchiness in my finger as I now have my £100 :j 27 days from the 2nd deposit !! Please be patient !!

So for me it has been 100% hasle FREE. Not one single problem !! On that basis I may now open the regular saver account as it's the only one paying 10% gross AER that im eligable for.

I got my £100 yesterday (although my second £1000 credit was on 14th March).

Strangely, my OH's account hasn't yet received the £100, despite one secure message and then being referred to the helpline who assured her it would be in the account on 3rd April.

Her 2nd £1000 credit was made on 27th Feb.

Chaos reigns at Barclays HQ......
