  • I applied too late.. darn... means I've also used up a credit rating life by applying for an account I don't want. Never mind, should be quicker on the draw.

My application has gone through ok, but my wife had a letter saying they wanted some ID and the application would be completed in the branch. Does this mean the £100 would not be valid for her?

Has anyone else had the letter about going into the branch yet? What is the procedure? I assume they take the reference number on the letter or do you have to give them all the details again?

Look forward to the outcome of this. Applied yesterday - will be interesting if they decline on the basis of their potential loss rather than credit scoring.

Same here. Applied last night. Can you take them on about the reason if you don't get through?
  • Has anyone got the definitive answer on this.

If you had the offer to open the account accepted on line, have received the forms ( simply to sign, nothing else ), but just need to post them back, does it mean you have been accepted and will therefore get the cash if you pay in correctly after 2 months ?

Or will they class the account as opened after they closed the internet offer down ?

If they accept me as a customer and open an account for me, I expect Barclays to honour the T&C as they were at the time I submitted my application (as these will have been the terms I have agreed too). This means, although the offer has been withdrawn... i have still submitted an application under my acceptace of T&C which stated 1000 a month for 2 months. If they go on to open an account, rather than reject the application, Barclays must honour this.

Think about it... if they open these accounts and then decline the £100 incentive, how much bad press is that going to be for Barclays? LOADS. And a lot of it will come from MSE'ers. Avoiding the bad press is alone worth £2million if thats what it costs...it might sound a lot, but its only a tiny drop in a very very large ocean.

Agreed, but I also returned my signed application today with yesterdays date on as this was prior to the offer being withdrawn which surely forms the basis of a legal agreement (well maybe) !!!
  • I applied last Sunday and got a rejection letter today  It said my credit score was "below the level that we currently accept". Hmmm. I was looking forward to that £100.

OH has letter confirming account will be opened, but needs to take ID to local branch. Also specimen of his signature.
I am still waiting to hear about my application, yet I applied before he did.
