I managed to get in quick and opened an account. But they have already charged me £13 for the privilage! I'm realy worried now because if they try and wiggle out of the £100 deal (as Martin said they might) I'm going to have lost loads of money. Yikes. Any ideas?0

What have they charged your for?0 -
Well, I've finally got my account opened and running and last month transfered my first 1K in and out!
It was hard work. All I ever received from them during the application process was the 10 day email. I've had to phone them every step of the way to find out what to do. I had to take my ID to my branch but that was painless. Then I heard nothing.. so had to phone to get a cheque book delivered. Then I had to phone for an online membership number and then a password. In every call I confirmed I was still ok for the £100.
so just 1K more to put in and hopefully I'm home and dry!! :laugh:Saving money is fun :A0 -

Have you opened and additions account instead of a basic account. It has added extras but they charge you £13/monthI haven't got one!0 -
Wooah, lots of unhappy posts, and I'm going to add to them. I had to go into the branch to open the account, with loads of resulting hassle. I then waited for my details to come through, I got my card, but never received my online details.
When I finally got round to calling Barclays they said I hadn't registered for an online account, but they would add me to the £100 list. The only problem was that I only had until tomorrow to get £1000 into the account! A little difficult, so I'm very annoyed at wasting so much time. I'll be writing a letter of complaint to add to the piles they must already be receiving.
They wouldn't even let me close the account there an then. So I'll have to send a letter to close the account. So much for Barclays making itself more modern and acessible:

Sorry to hear about the bad stories. I wouldn't go near Barclays if it wasn't for the free cash. However, for every bad story there's no doubt countless people who have managed to get the account without any probs and will get the free £100. Always the case where you hear more about things going wrong than right.MFW 2015 #41 = £20,515/£20,515

I got one of these a couple of days ago, as did my OH.
My biggest problem was that I forgot my memorable info, doh!0 -

I'm another who hasn't had the £100 email, neither has OH.
There seems to be a good mix of those that have / haven't, and those that had to go to branches. It starts to make me wonder if different offices have different policies?0 -

I'd better get the £100 after !!!!!! the flippin' hassleI haven't got one!0
