We spotted this account before it was mentioned on the site and OH and I applied online. My application was straight forward and OH had to take ID to bank.
Both of us have had emails to say £100 will be forwarded once £ 1000 x 2 paid into accounts.
It is both of our intentions to use the accounts for our spends in the long term.
When I paid in second £ 1000 there was a draw to guess what the new regular saver account interest rate would be. I had a guess after all the speculation of 10%.
Guess what had a phone call last night form main branch to say that I have won the draw and a bottle of champagne and box of chocs are on the way.
Thank you very much.0 -

Account was all opened up, received internet banking details and have transferred first £1k in. I suppose I might have lost the e-mail mentioned above amongst all the fake 'Barclays IBank Security' spam messages that I receive multiple times a week, but I'm pretty sure I didn't see it.
Certainly hope it doesn't mean I'll lose out on the £100 - hopefully just their systems not working properly! Will certainly ensure my next £1k transfers in promptly to keep well within the T&Cs!

Same here. If I don't get the £100 I won't be a happy bunny!0 -

If you have a squeaky clean credit record with a number of different providers, haven't moved house for several years, and are on the Electoral Roll, Barcs can get all the ID verification info it needs from Experian or Equifax. So no need for you to take passport, gas bill, etc, into a branch.
I meet all the above criteria but still have to go to a branch in person. I also registered a formal complaint but am still waiting to hear from the complaints department.0 -

Does anyone have the actual dates that this offer was (a) first posted and (b) subsequently withdrawn?

The account was first mentioned on this site on 12th Jan - It then appeared in Martins' weekly E-mail on the 18th (which led to the deluge of applicants)and as far as I can remember it was withdrawn from the Barclays website on the 19th. You can get confirmation of the withdrawl date by searching the messages as Martin put out a message about it
I applied 13th, opened account with no hassle, deposited first £1000, got statement few weeks later stating account opened date 24th (the day my package of cheque book etc was sent out), just about to deposit the 2nd £1000. Have never received the £100 confirmation e-mail, but not unduly worried by this as I am fully within the operating criteria.
The best thing we can all do is wait n see what happens. I'm sure if Barclays do try to wriggle out of it Martin will be on their backs just like he was to George Galloway the other day (well done Martin) and I'm sure the BBC's Watchdog Programme will also be inundated. Barclays will not want that !!!0 -
I had a pretty simple sign-up process but have only just got round to depositing the first £1000. I really have no confidence they will honour this deal at all as I have seen no reference to it anywhere since I signed up. Worth a try though.0
