If you have a Barclaycard, you're not eligible for the £100 as you're deemed to be 'an existing customer'......

I think this information is incorrect.
We actually asked this question and were told that it is only if you hold a Barclays current account that you were not eligible. OH has a barclaycard and was given the go ahead to get the £100.
OH was very quick off the mark and had the account opened immediately and paid first £1000 in on 20th jan and 2nd £1000 in on 22nd Feb.

Hi - I managed to log my application on the 18/01, ie before it closed on the 19th. Barclays' are now saying that as it was withdrawn on the 19th and my a/c only opened on 13th Feb that I'm not ledgible for the £100 even if I pay in the requested sums in the timescales stated.

I have logged my complaint with Barclays where the chap said he had only had one other correspondance on this - has anyone else experienced this???

Blind them with your staggering understanding of the English language and advise them that their "invitation to apply" for this account was withdrawn on the 19th but as you "applied to their invitation" BEFORE this date that you are entitled to have your £100 if they open you an account.

The fact that they were overwhelmed by the response is nothing to do with you and they should apologise if anything for the length of time it has taken to attend to your application.

Staggering how many people are blinded by their own language! Maybe English is not his first language!!

  • Hello,

I applied for this account on the day Martin gave the tip.
The following week I went to a branch and opened my account. I received a letter confirming my account details and number and TODAY received an email from Barclays which to me looks like they will honour the offer:

"Ok, we admit it! Opening a bank account with us isn't nearly as exciting as winning the lottery. But it can make you feel pretty tickled knowing your cash is in a place you can trust. Add to this the £100 cash you’ll receive for simply paying
in £1000 a month for two months, and things are already looking up. "

In reply to Ayrshire_guy about online transfer - I still haven't received a code for online banking either but have already made the transfer to my account - as I did receive my account number and sort code. The worse that could happen is I don't get the £100, but my £1000 will still be there (hopefully). Even though it does look promising.

How did they manage it ? Barclays know more about me than I do at the moment, yet they still want me to do a 160 mile round trip to present myself at the branch, even although they managed to identify me online and also received the paper documents which I eventually had to send to them.

    Well that's a different question :)

I didn't have to provide ID but my girlfriend did, although she has a Barclaycard.

I think I was lucky to get the same (mortgage-related) question twice on the Experian check, so I didn't get anything about credit card balances. This has been identified here as a weakness as it asks you for the balance on your "last statement", but Experian's data is likely to be at least a month out of date.

Probably all down to Anti-Money Laundering procedures they have to follow. Barclaycard is probably classed as a seperate entity so them having details is irrelevant(also could be differences between AML requirements for credit cards/current accounts (which is preety much certain as never provided extra info for credit cards but always for current accounts)
  • Hi

I am going to pay my 1st £1000 (cash) into the barclays account today (24/02), should I leave the grand in a few days before I withdraw it. Then going to put another £1,000 in on the 25/03. Will this be OK for me to get the £100 incentive money???
