No-one at the bank has said that to me yet., But I have just phoned them again on their online banking telephone number and they are going to lodge a complaint on my behalf. Apparently, however, there is no time limit to open the bank account once the have received the application as obviously it is not my fault if my nearest branch is almost 100miles away. BUT, once the account is open you must deposit the first £1000 within the first month of it opening to qaulify for the £100 cash back. I think I will persevere just out of principle.

If you have a Barclaycard, you're not eligible for the £100 as you're deemed to be 'an existing customer'......

    Sorry Weggy, I don't think that's true:

£100 Online Cash Offer: Terms & conditions
    2. This offer is only available to non-Barclays personal current account holders who open a Barclays Bank Account ('new account') online.

Just received an e-mail from Barclays:

[font=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]"Ok, we admit it! Opening a bank account with us isn't nearly as exciting as winning the lottery. But it can make you feel pretty tickled knowing your cash is in a place you can trust. Add to this the £100 cash you’ll receive for simply paying in £1000 a month for two months, and things are already looking up."

I guess everyone who receives this is on target for the £100.

I was just going to post the same thing. I was one that had to take my ID into a local branch and have just had the email.

Oh well there's hope for me yet, all I have to do is go to Edinburgh
  • Hi

This is my first post on the forum - I have had my new Barclays account open for a couple of weeks now and have made my first £1k transfer. My next is due early March - it will interesting to see how quickly they pay up the 100 quid (or if I have spend ages chasing them for it. My guess is the latter of the two).
  • Hi - I managed to log my application on the 18/01, ie before it closed on the 19th. Barclays' are now saying that as it was withdrawn on the 19th and my a/c only opened on 13th Feb that I'm not ledgible for the £100 even if I pay in the requested sums in the timescales stated.

I have logged my complaint with Barclays where the chap said he had only had one other correspondance on this - has anyone else experienced this???
  • I got my account opened last week after taking ID into a branch. Since then they've sent me an Electron card and a cheque book. What I really need though, is the log-on details to transfer money online.
How long should this take to arrive?

Is there a time limit imposed on how soon after account opening the first £1000 needs to go in cos I really want to do this online?
    Anybody know?

See above. I was told today by a Barclays advisor that as long as I applied for the account before the offer was withdrawn, I would still get the £100 as long as I paid the first £1000 within one month of the account being opened. It sounds like their customer service advisors are as confused as the (potential) customers.
