My husband and I both opened an account on the same day. He didnt have to produce ID but I did and had the unfortunate trip to a branch. In my experience, they had no idea about the £100 offer. We both paid money on the same days and complied with all the terms and conditions. I kept my letter about taking in my ID as it was dated 18th Jan which was before the online offer ended. My husband received his £100 and I waited another 3 weeks before ringing them to complain.
They tried to claim that I had not opened the account in time. This was because I took my id to the branch on 27th January 2006. I explained to them that I had a letter dated 19th Jan from them asking me take ID into the branch and that was the end of it. 7 days later the money was in my account.Matched betting proceeds so far: £505.000 -
My wife and I applied on 18th Jan in response ot the e-mail newsletter from Martin, account opening was slow due to demand, we both made £1000 deposits on 20/02 and 24/03.
I received my £100 on 04/04, my other half has got her's today 25/05 after she made a complaint on the website at the beginning of this month followed by a letter which stated a decision would be made by 09/06, followed this up by a phone call on 18/05.
Many thanks Martin we are £200 better off without much effort!
My advice to others still waiting is be patient, you will get the £100
The department dealing with these claims seems overwhelmed, would you throw resources at such a self inflicted situation?:T :T0 -
essaym wrote:Hey,
I havent received my £100 yet and I shoudl have done ages ago, so I phoned up my local branch today for a chat with the manager, they told me that I had to have been paying a wage in for it to count.
Has anyone else been told this at all, and is there any truth in it?
Ah also they said that I should have filled a form in and sent it off to Leicester to claim this free £100, I wasnt prompted to fill a form in and send it off at any point during my opening of the account, so I have formed a complaint regarding this, did anyone else physically fill in a form and send it off to Leicester? I.e. fill one in in-branch, or print one out to send off?
Anyhelp woudl be appreciated
Point 1 - rubbish, my partner and I transferred savngs into our accounts.
Point 2 - no forms, my partner's was automatic within 28 days of the second deposit, I didn't get mine until a few days after lodging a complaint (by the time I got a letter saying that they were investigating and would reply within the next month or so, the money was in my account.
Both accounts now closed . . .

They seem to be fobbing people off.
The worst part of it for me was having to go to one of their branches with ID. Since it was a 25 mile trek, I called the Customer Service number the week before, to make an appointment for 1pm. All seemed well.
When I arrived at the Glasgow branch there was a queue of a dozen people waiting to see a Customer Advisor. It was hot, stuffy, no seats left and worst of all - no record of my appointment. I waited an hour and then the CA apologized, saying they don't accept appointments between 12 and 2pm. :rolleyes:0 -
If they don't perform, write and charge them £30 explaining that they charge this sort of amount if you screw up, so it's reasonable that they should pay you the same. They will pay - I do this sort of thing quite regularly. In fact we got £50 from Barclays for a complaint about the £100 offer.0

Thanks olgadapolga, I was sure I hadnt seen a form I needed to send off!
and Tim_L, I love the idea of charging the banks for messing you around! In fact there are a few other businesses who I may be writing cheeky letters to, I think it may be amusing to see how they would reply to a letter charging them for wasting my time!0 -
I had a call from a nice guy from Barclays on Friday, he basically told me that, there had been several admin errors when I signed up for my account and as a result the correct forms werent filled in by the bank, I didnt have to fill in these forms as I had previously been told, and as it wasnt my fault they are going to transfer the £100 to me on Tuesday, result!
Now I would like to know how people went about closing their account? Did they go in branch, can you phone up or better still do it on the net?
Does it harm your credit score or anything if you leave it open with a few pence in? Saying that I have about 7 bank accounts now, I really should close a few!
I wonder how much barclays have paid out because of us lot!0 -
Re - closing the account... I bank online with Barclays so just transferred the whole lot out of the account back into another one with a better bank0

There's a form somewhere on the Barclay's website which I printed out and posted off to close the account. I cut up my card and enclosed the pieces with the form. I told them the cheques had been destroyed.
A couple of days later I get a letter asking me to send in my card and chequebook before they could close the account. That just about sums Barclay's up doesn't it?
There was a few pence interest still in the account so I just wrote on the form to give it to charity - which they did. Something called Kidsco ....0 -

Please PM me - so I can send you my email address to send files to
