wow! I see a lot of misplace passive aggression coming my way for this! Yes it might sound trivial to some of you and not an emergency but it states that a toilet not working is an emergency in my residents handbook which is what i am complaining about. The toilet is not block just the flush does not work and according to the contract I signed with my HA this is their responsibility and according to the policy they have given to me, this class as an emergency.
Just because I'm a HA tenant and not a owner does not mean I am not paying my way, how dare you make assumptions about my circumstances based on one issue I have raised!
I came here for advice on challenging the HA to fulfil their responsibilities not to be chastise for the fact that I'm a HA tenant and not an owner occupier! Your judgements are exactly that, judgements based on your own inadequacies and issues!0 -
The point is that is a very minor thing to sort out, check the cistern it can probably be solved without a call out. Not misplaced aggression more application of common sense."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
You may find that you can fix this yourself in a matter of minutes, then you won't have to wait for the HA to have available staff to come out and fix it.0

I have no inadequacies in dealing with a toilet cistern
It is very very simple to fix.

Sadly that is often the nature of forums. Plenty of opinion but often not the skill or the interest of expressing it sensitively“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
which i would be all too happy to attempt if I do not pay full rent and have a contract which states that this is the landlord's responsibility!0

the fact of the matter is whatever it states in your handbook, a broken flush is NOT an emergency, I really can't believe you expect to jump up and down and someone be sent out immediately to fix it over some poor old lady for instance who's heating could be broken, they have told you they can't come until 5th January and you should accept that and either fix it yourself in the meantime or make do until then as an owner occupier, my oven broke on Boxing Day so I am currently without an oven, I have ordered a new one but they can't come to install it until Saturday so I have 2 kids and have to make do without it for the time being I didn't come on here ranting about the fact that I have paid for a new oven so they should come and fix it immediately, but its hardly the end of the world, you tenants expect too much from your landlords sometimesAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

If you think its that much of an emergency call the plumber out yourself.
It depends on whether you think its urgent enough to spend your own money. If the answer is no, then you'll just need to wait for the HA to sort it out.
Hope you've warned your neighbours of your "small party"0 -
Again N1, I think you need to apply common sense here instaed of getting irate with all and sundry, plenty of people (me included) would think your time would be better spent lifting the lid off the cistern and seeing if it can be fixed before calling them out.
Also it is not really an 'emergency' as there is no H&S hazard , I assume you have running water and a bucket (I'm not intending to be faceitous here)."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

Yes, I have seen that. Well once again i thank you all for your constructive and aggressive criticisms, its been an eye opener for sure!
You don't have to worry about my neighbours, they don't inform me when they have parties that last until 12pm the following day with their music blasting louder than any rave system.0
