bah humbug
don't buy a house either as they will go down in price
or a car , or clothes , or food , or cds, or dvds, or anything
you are entitled to your (lengthy) opinion but get realdonstermonster0 -
hey rumman - made a small edit to my post lol that has better betting odds!
hey donster monster - get real you say?
open yer eyes grumpy! absorb and acknowledge what you see then interpret it financially! most of my post is fact, some opinion.
you're being silly with your post to be honest.
again, the point of the post, hold out till february if you want to buy a tv. you'll get the same make/model or better cheaper or with a few costly goodies.
thats the aim of this post. The rest is further reading which you didnt take grasp of.
cars are very likely to hike in prices.
house prices will continue to fall (follow financial news?).
dvd's are definately falling as they are now the new VHS
food is slowly on rise and could rise drastically if a natural disaster occurs.
buy clothes, nows a good a time as ever to buy clothes.0 -

I'm sold. :dance:0 -
OK firstly, as someone who works in OLEDs I can assure you there are no OLED TVs coming soon. Samsung my demo a 40" screen in the new year but I have it from inside sources that such a screen would cost $10000.
Secondly, it's not shocking to expect prices to fall over time, but a £400 screen now is still better than the £600 it was a year ago.
Thirdly, foreign goods (such as electricals) are going to be getting more expensive in the coming weeks due to new stock being bought with a weak pound. The new S350 BD player was £150 at Amazon 10 days ago, then went up to £160 and I believe it's now at £170.0 -
Hmmmmm 'kiran' and everyone please read the entire thread, maybe a few times, so that it makes sense? I live for this stuff.
In regards to the BD player you mention. A few facts for you.
Amazon cancelled 99% of the orders.
Laskeys had it at that price as a special promotion.
Dabs had it for £155.00
Play.Com, at the moment, have 6 Movies+Player for £179.99
Sony Staff received these players for £120.00 with the BD Movies.
The price decrease/increase occured in America too. Many price comparison sites show the old price, but once you click on the link, it shows the price increase.
A £400 TV is costly now, when the same tv in about 2 and a half months will be cheaper or of better value with add-ons.
In regards to my mention of OLED Displays.
I have stated that flexible OLED's are a way off. The OLED technology i have referred to is AMOLED. The cost is not $10000. AMOLED is also very near to commercial use.
The samsung screen which you mention is in OLED. It has been demoed already. One was in 2005, which wasnt HD. The most recent is HD 40". However samsung say they can develop that size yet, only 31". Maybe 2010 will yield 40" OLED's.
Who knows, maybe SED TV's will make a commercial entry. Though highly unlikely.
Search engines are your friends, but dont believe everything you read. Dont want an argument to occur but i get the feeling you have no sources, just went on the net then shared those voices on here. Do a little search you'll find out about Amazons blunder and AMOLED's. Its not as far off as they would want you to believe. My sources are direct.0 -
I have not bought a tv, I can empathise with what the OP is saying though, all be it on a lesser level:
I buy clothes. I try to wait for the sales but most of the time I buy what I like when I like it (and have the cash for it). And more often then not, I see things I paid full price for being sold for 50% of the price.
If I had just waited...etc etc...
But actually, the correct way of looking at it is: I bought something that made me smile/gave me a boost/that I was happy to pay at the time. Like everything commercial, it will eventually get reduced. I am aware of that.
So I make the choice to buy at full price, and rather then regret later, realise that I had a good few weeks/months with the said item rather then waiting out for a sale. I don't make a habit of shopping out of sale times, but when I do, I chose itesm where I am happy to pay the price in question. If I wasn't, I wouldnt pay up.0 -

Samsung demo'd a 40" OLED last October

and 11" OLED TV's have been on sale for over a year in Japan and the US Link0 -
Trace_567 - Substantiates what i am passing on. TV prices are not going to go up. They will fall further. Which is ultimately what this post is about.
I actually said this..
Plus any NEW tv tecnology will come with a high price tag, just like HD LCD's did when first out.0 -
may I just interject that wapow is clearly a bell end and although I have searched t'internet far and wide propspects for the new year indicate this is unlikely to significantly alter. shock horror - tellys get cheaper - sh*t me not any other prophecies einstein ?0

I think it's entirely pertinent to make the claim that unless your current (CRT) TV is malfunctioning or in any way embarrassing you in front of your technologically-seduced friends (maybe change your friends?), it really is financial folly to actually buy an LCD/plasma TV at the moment.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0
