    Hehe Maytaurus I wont tell.

Sammy_kaye18 - I have a simmilar situation although it was my mum who had the affair I blame my dad for the divorce because of how he treated her to begin with. My brother has never been as close to my step dad, brother & sister as I have. It's a real big shame really that they can't see how good it can be to have an even bigger family isn't it?

Sethsgran - you poor thing, I can only imagine the pain you have gone through and I hope you have a full recovery soon.

craftlady - I so want that as my wedding cake (if i ever find a fella lol)

  • Please, no more needle horror stories, I won't be able to go near one again at this rate!!!

Sammy, It's lovely that you are being so welcoming to your step mum, it is a shame your sister can't but it's all about differing loyalties I suppose. I do hope they love your present, I'm sure they will!
    xx

OMG!!! I want that cake!!! Thing is its so good i probably couldnt bring myself to eat it!

Have also just seen the thread on crimping and think i may make a few sweet pockets with retro sweets in to give to a few people. like my step brother and sister to go with their vouchers because i cant think of what else to put in them.

Might even make both the boys an advent calender like this and possibly one for the boyfriend too as he'll only whine if he doesn't have one. cheap simple to do and looks effective

Oh wow that is another beaautiful picture, looks so delicate. My mum used to be really into her x-stitch. She did have a bit of a needle accident though, she put the needle into the arm of the sofa, sat down put her arm down and the needle went into her wrist. Unfortunately a bit broke off as well and she had to have an operation!!!

Oh my, bad memories - Like MRSMCAWBER I too have done this. Almost all the needle went right into the 'heel' of my left hand before breaking off. The hospital didn't schedule me for an operation until Tuesday (this happened on a Friday night) so spent the entire weekend in agony.

When they finally removed it they said I had been luck not to lose the feeling in my little and ring finger!

Note to self since then: Do NOT put needles in the arm of chairs! :naughty:

Mrs love -thats exactly where my needle went too  Im sure crafting is supposed to be relaxing :rotfl:

what with us lot -we must account for a lot of the "silly accidents in the home" statistics :o
We now have leather sofas -so I don't do that now -although Im a sod for sticking them in my top and forgetting they are there.........

I have also forgotten that I had the scissors in my hand and gone to scratch my head and poked myself in the eye with them  :rotfl: -I have done it several times more -but luckily I now wear glasses -so they take the brunt of it :D
Right Im back off to my sewing *perhaps I should get some safety gear first*:rotfl:

Right this list of mine is getting ridiculous now.

So far i have decided on

dad + step mum - romantic night in hamper
    sister - home management file
niece (aged 4) sock monkey and cross stitched name plaque for bedroom
    niece (aged 2) sock monkey
    grandad - arthritis help hamper
step brother and step sister - some of these http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/sour_cream_container/to be made for retro sweets to be together in a hamper as gifts with a card/voucher.

6 handmade cross stitched cards and these as gifts http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1439435

these for bens teachers, to have homemade fudge/ truffles or peppermint creams in. or possibly http://pinkpetticoat.blogspot.com/20...e-buttons.html not quite sure yet.

not to mention i want to make him a little advent calender of the crimped packets and a tree skirt because i hate the base of our tree. plus i have my mothers cross stitch to finish off too and the cards to cross stitch - better get my backside in gear then.

Im sure theres more but i cant think.

Realyl do need a checklist to cross things off as they are done i think.

I usually put the needle into my tshirt or jumper that I am wearing, then I forget and pull it over my head at bedtime and it scratches my face, I look like I have been mauled!!
