Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'll get there.....will just take a bit of time.

Now.............need some ideas. What can I do with a plastic coffee cup with a lid that looks a bit like a hat ? It's one of those you get with a 'takeaway cappacino'...............I can only think of putting a face on it and making the lid as a hat (which really it already is............lol)

Glad to hear you're feeling so much better, Mary :T

This is the first time I've been able to sit at computer for a month  due to trapped nerve in my neck - also stopped me knitting so I've been climbing the walls - there are only so many books you can read and episodes of Kavanagh/Heartbeat etc you can watch - can't wait to get back to crafting

About your plastic cup - could you pad the lid into a pincushion and keep pins in the cup?

    Love to all

chris - sorry to hear about your trapped nerve.......I sympathise with just how many books you can read and tele you can watch......been doing a bit of that myself and getting bored stiff ! Garden needs doing, painting needs doing..........notice all these things more when you're not able to do anything much.
Like the idea of a pin cushion............thinking now along the lines of a possible 'emergency sewing kit'...........well, maybe.:T

Thanks for the links shegrinch..........don't know anyone who knits but the tissue dispenser is brilliant idea..........:T

I know this sounds silly thinking about christmas on a lovely sunny day but I've been going through my somewhat vague list and came across something I could do with a white jar (empty horlicks) and some marshmallows.
Think the idea was to fill it with marshmallows (these are supposed to be chunks of melted snow I think:confused:) make a hat for the top, stick eyes etc. on and it becomes a snowman thats starting to melt. The jar is already a curved sort of shape.
I've gone through the 'search' thing but couldn't find anything -I think there was a little verse to go with it.
    Anyone know ?

There is a knitters thread on the OS (old style) board, they are a really friendly bunch and can most likely point you in the right direction.

If you find any nice patterns please share :), it's the kind of thing I would be interested in making as well.

Its taken me ages to read this thread...I keep breaking off to look at sites and bookmark stuff and would need to be giving presents to half of Ireland to make half the things I want to do!

Have knitted 2 sweaters towards Christmas 2009, have a few other things 'left over' from other years, currently knitting sweater for DS3 who has something like a 48in chest, will then do some small ones for the grandchildren before the other adults who vary in size but at least DS3 will be biggest.

    Good luck to all.

Hi everyone. Wow I've got a lot of pages to catch up on. I hope this pin cushion hasn't been posted yet. http://ginghamcherry.blogspot.com/2009/04/happy-earth-day-with-recycled-teacup.html I stumbled across it yesterday and it is sooo cute. Going to make it for my uber talented sister for Christmas, she always makes us beautiful presents and I struggle to think of something that would be 'as good as' she makes. (I know I shouldn't think like that) However, this looks so easy and would be so useful for her too.
