I bought a pack of eight gold paper cups for a pound in Asda on Tuesday, in readiness for the Pot o' Gold this year. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone else had trouble finding them last year.

Pot o' Gold is a --well--gold pot :D The idea is to use shredded tissue paper for a bit of padding, then add chocolate coins, maybe a couple of real ones &/or lottery ticket or scratch card. The theory is you are giving a good luck charm & potential fortune.
There are some rhymes on here somewhere & photos of the excellent examples folk made last crimbo. I've not explained myself very well--sorry :o--but hope you get the gist.

Think with the pots of gold we all did different.........mine started off as choccy coins in an empty gravy granule tub - covered it with paper with gold coins on and stuck image of a pot of gold on the lid. Then I found some glass jars and did much the same (didn't need to cover the jars though) and in some I put ferrero rocher chocs.

If you go to the 'search' box and type in 'ditties' I think you''ll find a thread with all sorts of verses on, including the pot of gold.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'll get there.....will just take a bit of time.

Now.............need some ideas. What can I do with a plastic coffee cup with a lid that looks a bit like a hat ? It's one of those you get with a 'takeaway cappacino'...............I can only think of putting a face on it and making the lid as a hat (which really it already is............lol)
Hey Mary, I just came across these and thought of you :D

Candy - thanks..............what brilliant cosies............I've made one for my son out of a hat I sort of 'recycled'.......some of these look a lot easier. The one I did seemed to take forever to do...........lol Love the idea of doing ones in felt...........thinking a lot of people just may be having 'mug cosies' this year.............lol

Not sure I'd do one for the plastic cup I've got though..........might make me look bit of a 'cheapskate'.........need ways of disguising it somehow to make it look like something else.

maytaurus - thanks for that link........could lose myself for a while on there...........lol

Thinking about doing pots of snowballs (marshmallows) instead of pots of gold this year -thinkeveryone had one last year so I want to change it a bit. The snowmall jars would be ideal..........:j
