Yes good idea for the jewellery. My baskets all went down well this year and the sock monkeys were a big hit. I have 4 teenage nieces to buy for plus a teenage daughter so jewellery will be a great idea and one I haven't done yet for them. My eldest daughter (27) had a bracelet for her birthday and I made her a necklace and earrings to match it for xmas. Will have to look out for some more beads during the year as supplies on all the nice colours are running low. Last year I bought some bits from Primark when they were reduced to silly prices and used the beads.
Would like some ideas for knitting for boys as have 2 nephews aged about 12 and 13 plus 3 grandsons aged between 7 and 10. The 3 younger ones had sock monkeys this year which they loved but want something different for next year.0 -
Some brilliant ideas here ! I'd better start racking my little brain and see if I can think of something. Made a list of 'stuff to make' -lots of it is stuff I made this year and a few bits I didn't get around to........just need to be more organised and start a bit earlier this time.
Oh, must add........after unwrapping a present and taking all the stuff our I'm left with a box -brilliant, as I can re-use that no problem. I've also got a piece of sort of cream faux suede material.............would be lovely to cover a journal -can't think what else I could do with it -but I don't want to make a mess of it with glue and stuff - folk don't come more messy than me when doing something. Any ideas of what else I could use it for ?Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Check out these dolls at AK traditions... http://www.aktraditions.com/assets/pdf/ak_ClassicKnittedDolls.pdf these wil be made for my grandaughters. I bought a kit at the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching show in November. They aren't cheap but they are so generous with what you get for your money. Kit cost £60 ssshhhh don't tell DH, but I got plenty of yarn, pattern book for doll which included 3 outfit patterns then they let me choose 8 outfit patterns extra and 5 sewing patterns for outfits. I had 2 little grandaughters so far and as all my children, 4, want large families of 4 or more children then hopefully there will be other little girls in time. The kit was my present to me. I have never been to this show before so I decided that I would treat myself.
Wow those dolls are lovely but very expensive to buy the kit. Think I will have a go at making my own pattern for something similar as I am sure all the girls in my family would love these kind of things.0 -
I made this for my SIL instead of buying a selection box
I bought the stainless steel bucket in Hobbycraft (she can use it to keep things in after!), along with all the other bits apart from the chocolate! I filled the bucket with flower foam, then sellotaped florists wire stems to the back of each chocolate bar. I pushed the stems/bars into the foam, and added three glittery feathers. I sellotaped smaller sweets round the top of the bucket to hide the stems and foam, then wrapped it in some cellophane.
Saw SIL today and she loved it :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Some absolutely amazing ideas here. I love the dolls but undfortunately can only knit in a straight line lol. I might see if nanny can knit one for each of the girls though
. I'll make sock monkeys, I made 1 this year but was so disheartened by it that I didn't get round to making another.
Snowman soup was a huge hit though at school & I'd love to do another little thing like that, think they might all get the toilet roll lol I love that idea & hopefully so will their teachers. 1 will be at senior school so I don't think he will be needing anything.
Im such a last minute person I really want to try to be slightly more organised this year.
I've ordered my card making bits, had my 1st attempt at card making this year & enjoyed doing it. 1 comment about how cheap I was being until I pointed out I'd not only made an effort to personalise their card but also it probably worked out more expensive that the card they gave me. Thats my brother for you though!!!!!
Looking forward to some more fab ideas.
Hugs

How about Sock Monkeys - they have gone down a storm at my work!
Here are the instructions - you can theme them by using christmas pattern socks and buttons! And for those relatives or friends who own a car - buy some of the suction pads and sew them onto the arms and they can put them in the car - again theme it to the colour of their car!

Thank you very much for the website and my new found obsessions!!! I'm trying nearly everything on this website in the run up to Christmas 2009.
I think this coming year will be The Year Of Jordan Shannon getting her bum into gear, making money and getting crafty. Do you think it would be rude of me to make some of these products, such as candles and easter sig bunnies and sell them on ebay and craft fairs?? JW
Thanks.

Hi
I would love to join this year if I can. Picked up loads of ideas from the 2008 thread and made quite a few of the things but my list is much longer for this year! I have already got two fairs planned for November and a huge gift list, so we'll see how it goes.
I had a go yesterday at making an advent wreath and I have to say I am really pleased with it. I picked up a pile of plain green wreaths (artificial of course!!!) in the Asda sale reduced from £2.97 to 50p and an advent string with 24 pastel coloured xmas trees strung along it each with a little pocket for a sweet or something, reduced to £1 in Tesco. Not a very good explanation I know!
Anyway, I have strung the advent trees around the wreath and added a huge bow in the middle and I have to say it looks fantastic. Really expensive looking. I am going back to Tesco today to try and get some more of the trees and then will post a picture later. I think they could sell for about £7-£8 at a good fair and only cost £1.50!!0 -

So far I came across this site - http://www.calicolaine.co.uk/Fabrics-Christmas-Fabrics-c1_448/Snowman-Fabric-p3071.html?osCsid=6e4caefc604a2fc5998954f016cbb218 where it is £5.99 for a metre but was wondering if anyone knew of a site that sold it cheaper?
Could try try this site. They have a shop near to us where a lot of the fabrics are £5.00 per metre.
