HI all u fellow crafters.
id like to join this thread pretty please!
xmas 2008 imade snowman soups which i gave away as gifts, andi also made quite a tidy sum by selling them too. got great feedback on them. so will be making 100s this year lol!
i also did a couple of hampers too. a pamper hamper for my 14yr old niece and a 'everything my mum loves' hamper for my (you guessed it!) my mum. both went down really well. in particular my mums; she rang me crying as it was 'the most thoughtful present shes ever recieved' lol bless her!
not overly sure what i will be making this year except the soups of course and probaly a few hampers again. im loving the ideas on here and altho im not a sewing/knitting person. i do have a large collection of craft items that i havent had out of their packets (huge adiction to buyinhg all the craft stuff with great ideas, but never get around to using them oops!)
im hoping to use up a lot of my craft stuff by making gifts this year.
i have just attempted to decorate candles (stamping) and im quite pleased with the results, so this maybe a possiblity0 -

I'd love to officially join you all aswell, I was a bit of a lurker at the end of 2008 and barely posted so you'd probably not notice I was there (same in real life lol!) I think the special occasions board became an unofficial second home after the comps forum
!!
I had a go at snowman soup and they went down really well with everyone. I've bought 14 packs of stirrers from Lakeland, in preparation for doing that version and hopefully selling them at DD's school fair. Not that I have checked this out to be ok, so I might end up having to sell them on to you lot
I also think little felt tree decs are the way forward. I bought some reindeer ones in the Cargo sale yesterday (very MSE I'd seen them before xmas and decided to see if there were any left reduced after, broke my rule of one new dec chosen by the kids every year though, but hey!), and then thought I could actually make them myself, and told my OH earlier about my new idea had a flick through this thread and you've beaten me to it :rotfl: OMG I think my mum actually might have done that one year for my school fair many moons ago, must ask her about that!!
I'm also loving soblivions treat pockets/pouches, my mind is racing with ideas of sticking santa heads, crinkled legs etc on. I couldn't sleep in the lead up to xmas 08 as my mind was just buzzing with ideas after being on here!!!
Look forward to sharing the fun with all you talented crafty folk0 -
Welcome all newbies the more people the more ideas thus the more crafting we get to do.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

I'm making OH a pot of love too, and i'm giving him a valentines box of surprises, and another box of me (not its really got me in it :rotfl: seriously tho)
This year the number of ebay and craft fair sellers will have shot up in numbers, because they would all have the ideas from here.

Hi everyone, little bit warmer today.
I have made a start on knitting the dolls I want to do. I have made up the patterns as I go. Knitted enough bits for the heads arms and bodies for 4 dolls so far, all out of 1 ball of white 4ply wool. I might have enough left for one more, will give ti a go. Want 6 dolls altogether. Need to get some stuffing next time I'm out. I'm waiting with excitement for my delivery from Kemps, to make the clothes for the dolls.
I have some mohair type wool too which someone gave me, think it would knit up with a chunky knit pattern. Theres enough for a cropped cardigan and I want to do one for my daughter whos 28 and quite modern. Has anyone seen a pattern for one anywhere? I bid on a lovely one on ebay end of last year but lost out at last minute and havent been able to find another one since.0 -
Hi rufus, I can't claim to know anything about knitting. Are these patterns any good?

I got them from knitting central, a site full of free knitting patterns.some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
greenpixey wrote: »Thank you for the idea. I've seen crayons been recycled before, but the use of a cookie cutter was new to me and very handy. I got loads of pink and purple colours that my son never use. I can recycle them and use a cutter to give a nice shape and they can go in party bags for my sons b-party.
Been experimenting this lunchtime and think I will stick to muffin/silicone trays next time. I tried in a big tray as they showed us on the link and it did not swirl out to a beautiful pattern, it mostly turned into a murky gray (It looked better on the opposite side but still nowhere near nice). Did one line with orange/yellow, next line with light/dark green, next blue and fourth line purple/pink. (Next time I will use less of the dark colours) It all melted into each other quite quick. Also found it hard to establish when to use the cutters. Do it to early it was too gooey and to late it was too hard to use the cutters at all.
But me and the kids had fun doing it and it kept them away from the PS2 for nearly 2hrs. :rotfl:0
