I did my first 'pot of gold' in a gravy granule tub.........covered the outside with gold coin images -and did canned rainbows (multi coloured sweets) and canned sunshine (sherbert lemons). Lightweight for posting as well.
OH is already passing the empty ones on to me and I was wondering what to do with them.
So far there's this sewing kit and I'm doing canned sunshine (gold wrapped sweets and a packet of sunflower seeds) for a gardening hamper.

I'm sure other ideas will pop up- oh, just thought - could do a mini first aid kid - packet of paracetamol, sticky plasters -stuff like that.

Could I use gravy granule tins for these do you think ? I'm not much good at sewing but could cover a tin with fabric and do some kind of motif to stick on it. Be handy as a 'mini kit' for someone as a pressie.

what about baked bean etc tins obviously cleaned well they make excellent pen holders and can be decorated really easily.

Just had a quick look on Wikipedia. If you wet cork then heat it, it becomes more 'elastic' (guess that means flexible?). Might be worth a try x
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Thankyou JHB, I'll give that go- heat it back up in a dehydrator maybe... possibly a more gentle heat than an oven... thanks again x

    Hi

I have always soaked corks in hot water to squidge them back in the bottle ;)

I have been thinking of "my idea" about putting arms and legs on the tins... It was bugging me where it came from -then I remembered as a child I had a big tin covered in blue fur -with arms, legs and a face -that used to sit on my shelf(how strange what comes to me sometimes :p ).. it was big -so Im thinking what about the big coffee tins..especially if you work somwhere that buys them for the "tea fund" :j

I have been saving my gravy tubs for starting veggie seeds off in..I drive hubby crazy..hoarding plastic and cardboard pots n tubs :o
