This site has some ideas which look simple enough to copy either from card, fabric, felt etc and I had never thought of a lollipop holder which might look great hanging on the christmas tree

I was just looking at this and was thinking that if you pre drilled all the holes and put all the lids and string in a bag with a printed instruction sheet ( omit the burning of the string!!!) It would make a very simple kit for children to make ....another stocking filler!
Also no cost as the lids can be collected and ask friends, family and neighbours if you want other colours!

  • She grinch, you don't sound very grinch like to me, lovely ideas!

I was thinking that seeing as we are all so organised we could be thinking of gifts that we can really make from scratch, things that we grow ourselves and then make into gifts, anyone got any good ideas?

Last year I made some carrot jam, marrow chutney, tomato and chilli jame and was going to make some flavoured vodka but I am sure we talented lot can make these kind of things with things we have grown ourselves, upping the smug factor and lowering the cost. Anyone up for it?

  • Hi all - i'm gonna jump upon the wagon and get so crafty this xmas. I made a few home made things this year - but want to get even better :) so much so i've got my niece (4) into it - she'll be getting her own little crafters hamper next year :)

i've sat here for the past 2 hours reading through and bookmarking links - i really am inspired - and lots of ideas have popped into my head :) thanking you..

I was going to suggest to someone that had the wedding dress - if it's a silky material what about some pj's? or a nighty?
or how about a bed caddy? i guess you could use it as a armchair caddy for your mum to put her scissors, sewing kits, wool n needles, patterns and so forth into?? here's the link to the caddy.... http://www.joann.com/static/project/0303/PD00239.pdf

not sure if that's helpful or not - i was going to make the caddy for my gran who is now becoming more and more bed bound! but forgot all about it *blush* will deff do it this year :)

hope you all don't mind me joining in with you :)

  • Thanks shaz. No patterns as such; I drew the shapes onto paper first, cut them out and then 'tried' to draw around them on the felt (biros and pencils don't draw very well on felt, lol).
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Having 4 grown up daughters I think these are really pretty, practical and cheap to make! Another stocking filler haha. These are made from ribbon

    These are crocheted

    These are sewn

and though there is no pattern for the fabric one it looks fairly easy to make
