Hey Anna, and all other newbies, this thread is so much fun and the one for last year is well worth a read if you want a catch up with all the ideas. I think what we really need is to have an index thread with all the gifts on with a link to the original post... Anyone technologically able? The original thread was called "crafty for Christmas" and has all the ideas in including reindeer and cupcakes, if you find the thread then use the "search this thread" tool.

    Welcome alone :D

Jailhouse babe thank you so much for the link on ginger. The toy is really really good and good value too - friend is due to have a baby round about summer so if its ok - i might 'borrow' the idea

Hi sheyo, I can't take the credit for originality on the toy :o
I 'borrowed' the idea from this website that someone previously posted a link to :o

    Glad you like it!

I'm going to extend this idea and try and make as many birthday/ mothers day/ fathers day gifts as poss as well the christmas ones- am i mad??!?!:p

At the moment I'm making a load of cards for my nan's birthday in Feb and I'm going to put them in a fabric bag with a label saying "year of cards" she's in her 80s so i thought it would save her a bit of money and effort getting to the shops. I think it would be a nice xmas pressie for someone too- not sure who yet.

Has anyone thought of a poem yet for my odd sock bag? ;)something about it attracting all the stray socks - any help gratefully recieved i'm not very good with poems

    Some great ideas here :T

I migt try the hampers for this year, but at the moment am thinking up designs for Christmas cards to make.
Also might make some scrapbooks for my sisters.
I started jewelery making last year - only done easy to do bracelets so far but am making sure no two are the same. I gave some for pressies at Christmas and they went down very well :D

    * Heads off to start making more bracelets for this Christmas* :D

Hello Anna and other newbies, I'm a relative newbie too and can assure you the ladies on here are lovely and will do everything they can to help with any queries you may have - it's like having a virtual coffee morning with your friends, but anytime day or night :D

Sian the Green - that's a good idea there's sort of one already going under http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=792751 should we continue to add to this do you think?
  • For those people making cards for Christmas- how about making a "gift card"

Combine a small gift such as a pair of beaded earrings, bag charm, book mark etc into your card making designs.

I remember seeing a card in M&S - it was Marilyn Monroe and her earrings were real earrings you could wear.

Heres a link to the kind of thing I mean http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6225041
