I'm not to sure if thisis the best place for this but i recently bought a 30m role of paper in ikea for 2.99 it's not great quallity and it's meant to go onto they're easel my kiddies go through so much i thought this would be perfect, anyway, instead of giving them one each i'm cutting the roll up into various sizes of paper from a4 to 2m and wrapping it in black ribbon, i 've cut some for my 3 children and neice and bought value felt tips, chalk and crayons, all of this will go into their stockings making they're stocking about £1.50 each. On some of the paper i've written out activities to keep them occupied xmas morning. There is still plenty of paper left over for wrapping pressie's. Thought this idea might help people on a tight budget

I wanted to share with you some of my (very basic) crafting and also ask for some advise from those who actually have imagination /inspiration - which i severly lack!!
I've made some decorations for the tree. i was experimenting with the size and have decided i much prefer the smaller ones!

I've started making my son a stocking (excuse the photos they are rubbish!)
but i dont know what else to do to it!! you cant see on the pics but there are little beads and sequins so it looks abit sparkly! I want to put his name at the bottom. do i do it in felt or sequins or something else? what colour? honestly i'm feeling so uninspired now! i've come to a halt and really want to finish it for this xmas!! the gold fabric is the lining if your wondering!

Good idea on a budget pennypinchingmum.

For those watching the pennies, (like myself! ;)) I also found this item in The Works:

Canvas Inkjet paper, £1.99 for 2 sheets. Will do for a couple of pressies, framed up with pictures of the kids.

Sorry kacy1988, missed your post, those look great :T:T:T (another late night crafter I see! :D). I personally think the name in felt would look good, perhaps you could dot any letter 'i's' with sequins?

I think my concern is that my sons name is Drew. so the letters would have to be fairly big to fill the space IYKWIM?
I dont know if felt would look right? I really dont know! my partner is the arty / designer one and is refusing to help as it's "my project" I'm the cook / diy type not the sewing / crafty type - even though i enjoy it it's not a natural flare! I get to a point and lose inspiration and things end up not getting finished! i started making this for last christmas!! I am determind it will be really for this one! i managed to finish dp's but thats just boring xmas material not aplique or anything! grrrrr! I've got to make loads more of those decorations too now otherwise the 5/6 i've done will look lost! i might have to do some green ones too, or multi coloured!?

For someone who is not a 'crafty type,' you have done a great job! Really! My son's both had a felt one made for them about 3 years ago and they had their names made in different coloured (each letter) felt on the top (both were 4 letters). You just need to make sure you get the size right. Maybe you could do a paper/card template first? Kid's love their names on things and this would be the easiest option, I think.

Could you sew the name in sequins ..... or use glitter glue to write the name?

The stockings are amazing - My OH is not crafty unless it comes to making cages for his birds then he is great (but wont believe me when I say that) He loves sticking his oar in with my stuff though which I do appreciate till I'm nearly finished something and he make s a 'small' suggestion that would involve me practically starting all over again! Honestly! What can you do with them?
