The wool only cost about £1 for it :D and I am 3/4 of the way through one in brown shades..then Im onto one in purples :p
Im leaving them as they are for now-but later in the year I will decide if Im going to back them with fleece for extra warmth and to help them keep their shape a bit better ;)
Hope everyones projects are coming on well -can't wait to see photos :D

I'm trying to finish my Mr Bean teddy today, I'm at work but it's very quiet, so hoping to crack on with that after lunch.
I'm going to Manchester next weekend for my works New Years Party, so need to have something to do on the train that I don't have to think about too much, as there are a lot of us travelling up together. I have a short sleeved jumper to do in black glittery wool (£3.99 from Lidl) that is just reverse stocking stitch so that may be a good project to start. Everything else in the pipeline is from enormous balls of yarn so not easy to control in a confined space!

This sounds interesting. Is this Mr Bean as in Rowan Atkinson, or is he (the teddy, not Rowan Atkinson!) filled with beans? Can we have a photo?

I started several projects for this Christmas but sadly my back was just so horrid that I decided to take some of the pressure off and took a decision to get them done for 2009. I am just finishing off 12 napkins made out of Christmas fabric - really simple, just machining the edges - and the Jean Greenhowe nativity figures. I'll post a piccie when they're done.

I also thought about getting some of these unpainted Christmas sledges to decorate for next year.

I thought they might be nice with choccies in - one by each place setting. What do you think?

SNOW - you lucky thing you. Love your bag and scarf - the wool is a great colour. That scarf looks so cosy.
It reminded me when you showed you bag idea that a lady I once saw on her blog did some bigger crochet bags for children and then put a pocket on the front with a crochet appliqued car/animal/daisy/father christmas face. Then she put a large colouring book in the bag with some sweets and a pack of colouring pens or pencils in the pocket. They looked really lovely and a great present I thought. You could put eggs in for an easter bag, or heart chocs for valentines and do the bag in red and the same for christmas with santa chocs.
I haven't even started thinking about 2009 yet, still getting over this flu from christmas eve but I've loved reading about all your lovely ideas. Thanks.

The bear is like the one Mr Bean has, the pattern is on the freebie forum. I'm sitting here now knitting his ears. Another thing for my growing list of things to finish off this weekend!

    Hi

I always make gifts for my family for Christmas. Here are some ideas of past things i have made
    - Good old food hampers - fudge, kourapiedes (little Greek shortbreads), various jams, marmalades, homemade chocolates, oatcakes, chutneys, pickled onions, homemade chocolates - these were a great success - used silicon ice cube trays, melted white and milk chocolate and added ginger, nuts, fudge pieces. They looked really good and expensive.

    - Draught excluders - using recycled pillows, and nice fabric,

    - Door stop - using oilcloth and rice

    - Painted picture frames - used a crackle effect paint this was great

    - Fabric circles with beads to go over jars, - not sure what these were called but they looked great

    - Lavender hearts, bags, sachets

    - Decorations from beads, pendants and ribbon

    - Handbag charms/keyrings - Ebay have some great unusal beads, charms etc

    - Homemade lip balms (really easy), and little beeswax candles all wrapped up in a flannel to look like a cracker

    - Candles in scallop shells

    - Nightlight holders covered in ribbon

I'm trying to be organised this year by thinking of things to make in advance as it takes a while to collect the right bits and pieces. This year I plan to work on

    - jewellery rolls/make up brush wraps

    - vintage tea cup candles - have found a few teacups from car boot but need to collect some more for next year.

I really like the idea for making aprons.

No doubt I'll come up with some other nice ideas. Trouble is I always can think of nice gifts for ladies, but with men I often get stuck and make them pickled onions, which always goes down well but isn't neccesarily original.
