yummy - thats reminded me of something else I didn't get around to doing last year...........so its on this years list now.

Another idea (saw it somewhere-can't remember where) - piece of board for kitchen notice board - paint a square in blackboard paint and the border in different colour - stick some wooden/chipboard embellishments at the top (flowers, whatever your choice) and stick small plant pot at the bottom right hand corner to keep the chalk in.
Hope I've explained that ok. (got loads of little plant pots I was wondering what to do with and now I know.............lol)

Happy New Year one and all:T

Seths gran just got your PM..... will answer later -my message box seems to be playing up

Anyway..here is the 1st item I have a pic of that is done ...... It was just a test one really -I was thinking it would be nice with some smellies in for a little girl... I have used a similar idea and made my niece a bigger one, she will get a poncho, scarf (done) and a couple of hats in it -once I have knitted them all :rotfl:
It was really quick to crochet too and cost about £1 :j

    Hi there -thankyou

No pattern -sorry -just realised that one is knitted (the bigger one is crochet)....
That one above is just size 6mm needles and I used Sirdar Denim Ultra -its a mega chunky wool -you simply make a rectangle of knit 1 row purl 1 row then sew up each side -the handle is a crochet chain then I wove some pink metal chain I have through -mainly to take the weigh when its filled ;)

    that bag is only approx 4 1/2" X 7"

I will post a pic of the crochetted one when I have finished attatching its handles lol

when I make the next one I will make note of how many stitches n rows for you ;)

Managed to pick up a child's trowel and garden gloves set in Homebase christmas section, reduced to a £1. I am going to put it in one of those large plastic plant pots with the face and feet on and pop in some tumbling tomato seeds and a small home packaged mult ipurp compost for my 3 year old niece, wrapped in sellophane it should look pretty professional :)

My dd's school made one of these (the A3 size) as her Christmas gift to us. Each page had a photo and a piece of artwork on it and the quality is fantastic, really thick and sturdy.

I am definitely going to do these for all the family for this Christmas and get both children to do different arty things throughout the year to put in them.

I was actually just going to order my calendars to get really organised, but realised at the last minute that these are 2009 ones! That could have been very embarrassing next Christmas!

I bought those calendars for family presents for the last 2 years, great quality and so easy to pop photos or whatever else on. Brilliant pressie :D

Thanks. Thats the sort of thing. I'd blanket stitch round the edges.
Want them to be fairly basic

I'm hoping to do some Xmas trees for this Xmas (bought red and green felt to do last year and never got round to it).

Love the gingerbread man She Grinch, thanks so much for the link :D

  • Great thread!!

Well I'm still making bloomin sock monkeys!! I still have 6 to make for people who said they would wait till after xmas as I didn't have time to do them before xmas. I also made snowman soups and pots of gold which everybody loved, my mam cried when she saw her pot of gold and read the poem:o she said it was the most thoughtful gift she had ever received. I have no idea what to do for this year but I'm loving all the ideas on here:D
