OP - so what was the result?0

I had the exact same happen to me 4 years ago and was given a £50 gift card -we had sauages for xmas dinner
I am on maternity leave but work as a duty manager for one of the big chains
To be honest threatening environmental health etc would get me back up although yes it is your right to contact them
I myself if it was returned would have no hesitiations in finding you the biggest joint of meat in the shop you could carry, a full refund for the off meat and £50 of vouchers and a sincere appology
I could give you that myself and believe you do deserve it
Ive had food returned in all states including meat thats never seen a fridge since it was brought 4 days ago (A dear old lady didnt realise you needed to fridge meat?) anyway she still left with more meat
Managers are human. Things do go wrong sadly but my aim would be for you to leave with a smile on your face.
I may also offer a bunch of flowers of box of nice chocsMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
No one suggested threatening anything - first port of call is the shop and a polite complaint - why do readers get the idea that theres any suggestion the OP dhould threaten anything?0
-
Jim- no offence was meant to be taken. Trust me when youve done my job for as long as I have being threatened is a normal day to day occurance
That and being beaten up/armed robbed/have your clothes ripped off you. I could write a bookMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

Just read through this thread. Amazed by several things. Firstly, the calmness and pragmatic view of OP. Good for you.
Secondly, how everyone seems to jump down people's throats on Christmas / Boxing Day. Would you feel a bit miffed about looking forward to the Christmas lunch and finding that it was rotting?
I would. And I would want some recompense for it.
I really look forward to Christmas lunch. As do tens of millions people in this country.
Oh - and the legal perspective - great argument for saying that a Christmas turkey is more than just a meal but that it is a much more enjoyable occasion. I would argue that you are entitled to the (very rare, before people chip in without requisite knowledge) damages for disappointment.0 -
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Went in fist day of opening. Basically had the turkey triple refunded and the other items i was unable to use refunded.
It was their first offer and it was an offer i was more than happy with.
Some money to me and some to charity.
Thanks for help and support.

Only read updates on page three, missed page four.
I was calm and explained the situation in full.
I have had to complain a few times on other things, but i think we all know shouting and loosing it is not the way to go. It is a shame that it is often the way of others.
I had a job in a toy store where i dealt with refunds, this is why i keep my calm at all times but wont be walked over as often many store managers have tried to do.
I hope your superiors support you if someone is getting out of hand that you refuse to deal with such a person and have them removed.
Thanks.......Q0 -

Thats a book I'd like to buy! Clothes ripped off? Come on, dont leave us in suspense.
I was in Tesco at the returns couter and poor staff member was taking massive flack off someone on the phone, really uncalled for, it can't be a very fun job to have to do. I think that sometimes people get very worked up or on edge before calling / going and they lose their decorum. My own way is to smile, be nice and realise that the staff member is not my enemy and put myself in their shoes. Only once or twice were they truely unhelpful / rude and then I just retreated and used another approach another way.0
