ShaunJUK - Will this POI Observer speed camera thing work with the default Navigon software on the PDA or do I need TomTom? Sorry to be a pain!
It will work using the current navigon software
I have downloaded the file onto my Micromaxx PDA and done the "test GPS" and "Raw Test" and dat is coming back from both tests so it looks like the software is running ok, the only thing I did not manage to do was add the speed camera file to the main screen but I have it stored in the program file which is not that much effort to locate. When looking on the map it did not show a location of the camera but I have not been out in the car to test it so I presume it will just flash a warning when I get by a camera.
Will try it out on a couple of cameras tomorrow night to see if it recognises them and I will post my findings0 -
The POI Observer Software works alongside any navigation software. When properly set up you can basically running POIObserver and your navigation software simltaneously. The GPS signal is recieved by POIObserver on COM1 and then forwarded to the navigation software via COMX (depends on how you set up VirtCOMMGR). This is why you change the navigation software setup to manual GPS on COMX. POIObserver runs in the background and when you approach a POI (e.g., speed camera) it gives an audable and visual (top overlay) warning. There is no communication between the nav program and POI observer as such hence no little symols on the map.
Good work to the poster hosting the zip file  . A suggestion for improvement would be to add speed sensitive warnings. Bitmaps are included on the pocketgps database download and wav files are on the navifriends forums.

If you open 'explorer', navigate to the program folder, tap and hold on the program and click copy you can then 'paste shortcut' by repeating the tap and hold action in the folders /windows/start menu/ and /windows/startup/. This will give you an icon in the start menu (/windows/start menu/programs/ for the programs folder) but will also automatically load the program on reboot.0 -
Successfully running TT5 on this device but am missing the UK version of the postcode.zip which allows the device to read 7 digit postal codes. I dont know where to find it. Can someone help me here.
Iam new to PDA's & GPS. Is it always necessary to have the SD card in the device or is it possible to transfer all the data (eg the Map) from the SD card to the device itself thereby making SD card redundant?0 -
You will have to keep everything on the card as it only has 64mb onboard, its worth using at least a 512mb card ad when you instal programs or games install them on the card also0

Thanks for that Deanos.
Can you direct me towards the uk postcode.zip as I am stuck with a german.zip which is completely useless to me0 -
well the guys name is delboy
just check out the £20 postage when it would only come to £1 max...0 -

Thanks for that, I am unable to navigate to the link you posted for speed sensitive warnings, I would love to add it on0 -

This still does not work for me. Just takes me to the MSE main screen.
Could it be due to the spaces in the zip filename??
Cheers

Are you copying and pasting the url into another window or using a download program, as the download will only activate if it is from an mse referrel, this is to stop people hotlinking my files0
