I have made an easy setup for POI Observer, I have done all the hard work all you have to do is follow a few easy instructions.

If you go to Settings -> System -> System Utility you'll find a setting
which controls the backlight when the GPS receiver is active. Try adjusting this.

Thank - this worked for me when I read the instructions prpoerly.

I could hardly see the screen in the car - too dim. also reception not any better than garmin - does this really work indoors? mine only worked against patio doors - Garmin was the same. Also I'm only getting 4 digit post codes on
PDA - ie it only finds an area not individual house

    Thanks

You should never 'expect' to recieve a GPS signal in a building.

You can search for 5 digit postcodes, eg LN118

So this means it's not as detailed ? Odd as it appears to use the same software.

I can get a signal indoors so maybe it does have a more sensitive reciever, however whether you get a signal indoors relies on what kind of building and where in a building you are

Not as detailed as what? Same software as what?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I originally bought a Garmin, which is the subject of the other thread. It uses the full 6 digit (poss 7 digit) postcode which mean that it navigates down to individual properties as opposed to a group of them - or is there a way of doing this on the PDA? Both items - Garmin and PDA appear to use the same mapping software.

I'm sold on the Garmin - my wife a convert too, but not sure on the PDA.

The only way to do it at the moment is to enter the postcode and a house number, however a group of houses still share the same postcode, usually a whole street.

If entering a full postcode is really important to you you can install tomtom software to enable you to do this.
