I posted earlier to say my Tom Tom was not picking up a signal, it was saying there was no GPS device connected, I tried all the tips here but with no success, so I have put the Medion software back on.

    To clarify a couple of points, could somebody answer the following;

    (1) Is it possible to get speed camera information with the Medion Navigator on the PDA, it's version 5.

    (2) I can always try Tom Tom again but could anybody run through the process of how to load it and what should then be done to try and work out where I went wrong.

When I loaded Tom Tom before, it all appeared to be working but was not picking up a GPS device.

I am not sure if I did the right thing because I removed all the Medion software off the card before putting Tom Tom on to it. I have now had to remove the Tom Tom again and put the Medion software back on the disk.

I am more the happy with Medion software but would really like to use it for speed camera detection as well..

    Many thanks

what size card do you need to squeeze TomTom & all the latest Gatso stuff on....is 256Mb big enough?

Also, where's the best place (read cheapest) for larger capacity SD cards?!!

256MB is plenty for TomTom and the speed cameras. I got a 512 SD card from play for £17.99 and have both TomTOM 5 and The Medion Navigator 5 on the same card so I can switch as well as games and other apps.

Another question though. How many POI can TOMTOM 5 have. I cant find any restrictions but if I put all of my POI on to the card TOMTOM wont show them. I have to delete POI catogories in order to see others. It looks like TOMTOM will only load a certain number of catogories.

Install TOMTOM as normal (as the instructions tell you) then go to change preferences then GPS status. In here click on configure and then pick Other NMEA GPS, then select 4800 for the baud rate then Select serial Cable On SP2. This got TOMTOM 5 working great on mine although the strength meter doesnt work. One other note. TomTom always reports no valid GPS device on mine until it picks up a signal or if I have a route already planned and then it shows No Valid GPS Signal.
Set it up like above then try to take it outside to find a signal

maybe u guys are using an older version of tomtom? Currently they are on tomtom version 5.21... updates on their website... and uk map data is version 605...

anyway another way of getting internet on the pda which i know can be useless in a lot of occasions... is through the usb cable.... this is what i use at the moment, not to browse the internet but to update software, for example i have a weather software that updates itself everytime i connect my pda to the net [5 day forecast] and my poi program updates itself.... [the weather program is not free].....

icarisu i have done something similar to my buttons...

also am thinking of buying a screen protector [good quality one] and cutting the plastic screen off the case cos its a bit too thick and nasty to use the pda through it....

I'm not getting any road names come up on my navigation software (Micromaxx with Medion Navigator 5)

Is there an option to turn on road names that i've missed?

    Cheers

I think you need to be on EXTENDED user mode to enable the streetnames.

Change it in Settings then User Mode

I did that yesterday and its much easier to use the stylus without the plastic screen cover on the case.
