    Great stuff!!

Well done on DS paper round, that will make a difference. I used to deliver two weekly papers with my DS, and we used to make about £20.00 a week, which he would pocket.

Unfortunately, we were made redundant from both rounds mid-way through last year, as they pulled out of our area.

I have sold all my Woolworths gear and made about £20.00 on £50.00 worth of goods (after fees etc). I was pleased with that, and I have learned quite a lot in the process. Some things made very little, but a couple of things sold on BIN which made all the difference.

    All the best.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Hi S,

Two rounds? It turns out he's getting £18 per week because he isnt doing Sundays. Still good bit of cash for him and will make a difference. I went with him this morning at 6.30am and have felt so tired all day. It was quite nice being up at that time but he is on his own tomorrow!

Have you stopped your posting on this site? I know you are doing the the Turn £100... which takes a hell of a time to keep up with. I pop in and out of it and do want to increase our income this year, still early days. It was interesting what you said about the enquiries from Europe for the clothes. I wonder if it is just the exchange rate making them more attractive...well done on the profit!

    Onwards and upwards...

    Hi DeeDee,

The two rounds, were just weekly papers, so they would take us about 1.5 hours, each, a week.

Yes, I am not posting often on here as I have been given a spanking new page a day diary, so I have been putting my daily lists in there and taking it about with me. There is a lot going on at the moment, and I need to keep on top of it all. I will pop back here each month though to formulate the plan.

I've been busy buying and selling Tesco mobiles the last few days, and I am on track for £250.00 of vouchers in the next mailing, which I'm pleased about. Have you sold your Ladybird clothes yet? Mine have all sold, bar one pair of slippers, which I am giving to a friend's daughter.

I'm really enjoying the challenge of reaching the £10,000, but you are right, just reading the thread took up all my alloted MSE time. It has quietened down now though, so i'm roaming the boards again, checking up on everyone.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Hi Scrooge

I've been popping into the 'make £10k...' and I also check the 'make money from ebay...' so know you are busy with that.

£250 in vouchers!!! So that's 25000 points!!! I need a new phone so have meant to get a tesco phone, it says that you can only have 2 per card or something.

I'm in a situation where Working family tax credit have made an award to us and whilst I don't think I will go over the figure of estimated income before year end it is a bit of a disincentive to go all out to earn loads because essentially that will be taken off us. Even so I have just been checked out to take two european students in from a local language college. They pay £105 per child per week which will help with the bills. I'm planning of ebaying clothes early spring (partly as procrastination) but also because I think a lot of people are selling stuff now and the clothes aren't particularly winter clothes.

Re the Lego you mentioned on the other thread, we have loads and I've checked what it sells for so have got my son to start organising that, there is easily a couple of hundred pounds worth of star wars, harry potter stuff that he has!

I'm a bit obsessed with trying to buy a cheap boat to sell later in the season. The price of them is shockingly low because of the recession but things always come good as long as you can wait for things to improve. Thats how Onasis made his billions. I'd rather try and do one big purchase and sale per year than lots of little ones. The thread has been great for focussing attention. Maybe should have posted this on there.

Keep up th good work, will catch up with you perhaps on the 10K thread.

Goals for ABSolutely Fabulous January are as follows:-

Main Focus is on reducing my belly whilst increasing the pennies:-

"When you create structures for the chaos in your life you free yourself. You free up your time and emotional energy for the good stuff." Dr Joan Minninger.

"It's hard to beat a person who never gives up" Ruth Babe.

"Let go of the fantasy that you can escape work by procrastinating. There is no path in life that requires no effort. Prepare yourself for making a commitment to your goal by recognizing that there are costs involved in both working and trying to avoid work. The choice is not working or not working, but which type of work: even feeling guilty because of procrastinating takes some effort. When you commit to a goal, you're committing to a form of work that brings ongoing rewards. When you procrastinate, you're choosing a self-punishing form of work.

Clearly, work is required when you decide on a goal, commit to the path, and continually stretch beyond your current abilities toward the goal. But it also takes work to feel unfulfilled and to maintain a list of unachieved resolutions". The Now Factor, Neil Fiore.

Well it has been a weird month. I am glad that I got the money making off to a good start as January can be tough. I have focused on getting a foundation in place for earning the £10,000.00 for the year, but I have neglected a lot of other things. Fortunately DH is very supportive, but I need to redress the balance. Posting on here keeps me more disciplined than writing in my diary. So as I get paid tomorrow, I am going to start February tomorrow and get the balance right.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Hurray! You're back!

I do get a lot from your lists to spur me on. Have been meandering through other threads and getting totally lost and confused.

We are having a bit of a painful end to January so for us too February is going to have to be a serious money making month.
  • Hello, I've only just found this thread...what a great one it is too! :D I have decided to sign up to the £2 savers club and got DH on board so fingers crossed for us this year, it's all going to stay in a sealed money box and not opened until this time next year! I have also decided to try as best I can to not go into my overdraft facility...so far so good for 2010! Lastly I hope to make some money on all of the clutter I have lying around my house. wish me luck :D

All the best angelcakes_smw. Missed you DeeDee - I hope February went well.

Well I have lost my way a bit (lot) over the last couple of weeks. Did the exam and then lost motivation and slobbed a bit (loads). The fire is coming back though.

    Plan for today:-

07.15 - 08.00 - Family up and out - Sandwiches etc. Tong hair and DTS - Porridge
    08.00 - 09.00 - Pick up kids and Lollypop - check parent's evening date.
    09.00 - 09.25 - RB/TD
    09.30 - 12.30 - Accounts Job

    13.30 - 14.30 - Paperwork:
    - Invoice to two mystery shopping companies
    - Invoice to w/l
    - Ebay parcel post
    - Mobile to Tesco mobile
    - 15 minutes sorting out clothes in DS room
    14.30 - 16.00 - Lollypop - go to Post Office - Milk and bread
    16.00 - 18.00
    My gym kit ready
    DS maths homework
Phone up about VAT - look out forms
Iron clothes for sale on ebay
Look up quote for house and contents insurance - Quidco - Sheila's Wheels?
18.00 - 18.30 - Vegetable burgers for tea with H/M chips and spinach- (ended up with a ready meal from M&S - parting with £20.00 ouch, ouch).
18.30 - 22.00 - Gym, sauna - take book to read - back on The Now Factor
22.30 - check things for Thursday.
    Bed.
Well, it's a start. The day was thrown by my VAT return taking much longer than expected. I spent 45 minutes hanging on the phone waiting to talk to someone about VAT owed to me, only to find that it had been paid into somebody elses account for some reason. Still haven't got to the bottom of it, but the account number it was paid into bears no relation to my business account. Have been to the gym though and sticking to the diet. I'm going to keep positive. 13/22 - 60%.

Hi there DC, really great to see you back posting.

Magnificent, mad March is now officially on.

I thought the exam went well, but I should receive the results soon, so I will see if the examiner agreed. I found it all very stressful as it's been a long, long time since i've sat an exam of any kind, and there was so much to remember.

Anyway, in these last two weeks of slobbing, chaos has descended. I was starting to think what's the point, but writing a daily plan on this site, helped me get back in control before, so here I am again.

How are things with you? I will pop over to your diary to see .....
