Goals for ABSolutely Fabulous January are as follows:-

Main Focus is on reducing my belly whilst increasing the pennies:-

"When you create structures for the chaos in your life you free yourself. You free up your time and emotional energy for the good stuff." Dr Joan Minninger.

"It's hard to beat a person who never gives up" Ruth Babe.

"Let go of the fantasy that you can escape work by procrastinating. There is no path in life that requires no effort. Prepare yourself for making a commitment to your goal by recognizing that there are costs involved in both working and trying to avoid work. The choice is not working or not working, but which type of work: even feeling guilty because of procrastinating takes some effort. When you commit to a goal, you're committing to a form of work that brings ongoing rewards. When you procrastinate, you're choosing a self-punishing form of work.

Clearly, work is required when you decide on a goal, commit to the path, and continually stretch beyond your current abilities toward the goal. But it also takes work to feel unfulfilled and to maintain a list of unachieved resolutions". The Now Factor, Neil Fiore.

    Today's challenges

Things that I will do before I go back to work on 4th January 2010:

    FIVE DAY PLAN

    01. Sort through cupboards and paperwork in bedroom - massive declutter needed here (again ...)
    02. Organise filing system for 2010 (receipts/banking etc)
    03. Thank you cards - Chris/Mum/GD and post
    04. Sew button on winter coat
    05. Clean out downstairs cupboard - ebay/throw out 5 pairs of shoes and five coats
    06. Clean leather suite - bought the cleaning fluid and cloths
    07. Clean leather chairs in dining room
    08. Polish glass lights
    09. Wash all cushion covers
    10. Declutter drawers and cupboards in dining room (again ......)
    11. Clear washing basket
    12. Clean the cooker - Have bought an oven clean bag from Tesco to stick all shelves/knobs in.
    13. Clean fridge
    14. Clean grout on tiles in bathroom
    15. MSE January plan
    16. Put 30 items on ebay - FINISHED
    18. Menu Plan for first week on weightwatchers online diet
    19. Find a way of hitting £10.00 a day target - almost there
    20. Type up mystery shop
    21. Hand and toe nails, shave and polish.
    22. Three hours of revision

The list is slowly turning green.21/22

Ok rest till 11.30 then I will work through the rest of the things on my list, except the 30 ebay items and the revision.

6 tasks (including putting the cooker back together) 15 minutes each. Timer set go... WORKED A TREAT

Then i'll have a nice baked potato and salad for lunch and watch a film. Done

At 4.00 until as long as it takes, i'll put the items on ebay - stopping to feed the hungry hoards chicken curry with rice.

    Sounds like a plan !!

  • Hi Scrooge
You deserve a huge pat on the back for acheiving your 5 day plan ! The oven as we all know is a chore, that alone deserves a movie !

I have a bucket load of similar chores to list, but it all starts with the tree coming down for me today. Nothing like a bit of disintergrating ten year old tinsel to get the dyson out...

    Thanks DC.

I'm really glad that lots done, just wish it would stay done forever.

Working tomorrow at my accounts job all day, (bit of overtime). I'm going to organise my list now, as there is still loads of snow about and the country roads around my work are treacherous. So i'll be walking five miles there and five miles back, through the countryside, and i'll need to head out before eight tomorrow. It'll be a real shock to my system as i've hardly moved before 10.00 am the last couple of weeks.

Hope things are going well with you.

I cancelled my Blockbuster subscription yesterday (I was copying Different Corner), so that will add another £9.95 to the pot. I've done all the free trials now, but we love our film nights so the new plan is ....

    1. Sell all the DVD's that we have that we don't watch anymore - MusicMagpie or ebay.
    2. Start buying ,2nd hand, any films that are on our to watch list.
    3. As we watch them stick them back on ebay with the hope of making a small profit.

Advantages should be that we watch more of the very recent releases and the effect is cost neutral. That's the theory anyhow.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

  • Hi Scrooge,

Eek! The five mile walk! I have ventured out in my car driving at about 20 miles per hour max and amazingly everybody else seems to be too. If only everyone drove live that all the time, so pleasant and stressless.

Sort of getting there with stuff. I got some boys' sale stuff from Woolworths and used £30 off voucher code but yet to put them on ebay.

Changed savings account gained £25 per month.
Opened Tesco savings account to gain 1000 points.
Phoned up Tax Credit folk and have been awarded big money. Hard to know if we will need to pay it back though if we earn too much money before year end. Comforting to know it is there if we don't.
Chased up my £100 excess due to be refunded on car accident.
Son has now got a paper round £104 per month!!! Might get one myself.
Registered to take in language students in spare room.

So getting there slowly but surely but I am not looking glamouress yet. Birthday in February so need to start doing something about that.

    Thanks for all your ideas.
