  • Hi Scrooge

Great to see your results so far. Is that your course finished? What a lot you have done and whilst Im not getting far with my stuff I'm sure that as long as I keep checking in some of it will rub off on me.

I was very proud of myself announcing to friends at the weekend that our D/D is only £55 for gas AND elec. This cold snap is proving a bit of a threat to my plan though!

After all my savings with online shopping last week I checked my credit card online to find that there were purchases going through which were not mine. So card is cancelled and fraud people are investigating. Big inconvenience as some christmas purchases were pending so I phoned up about our ipod touch order and they said 'oh that was delivered last Friday and you signed for it!" so that is now being investigated as it is not in mitt. Horrible to think one of my new neighbours might be a bit unsavoury, so waiting for them to get back to me. Queing up in busy shops without 10% codes is starting to look attractive.

    Still to do;
Dieting, having trouble with breakfast, getting hungry later and falling off plan
Money is looking good, just need to move some around
Exercise, not happening at all - stuck in waiting on deliveries!!
Plan for 5-0, feeling more positive about it but still need to take more action
Will try to make new plan with more manageable chunks
Will do 5 minutes towards tax return tomorrow

    See you in the morning!

    Evening DeeDee,

I was really sorry to hear about your card and ipod touch, sounds like you've had a really stressful time. It's shocking to think that someone has stolen your ipod from under your nose.

I've finished the course work part of the course and submitted all the assignments, I just have to pass them all and then I will be invited to take part in the exam on the 22nd February, which I need to pass too. Thanks again for your help here. I'm so pleased that I am making headway.

At my gym class tonight, we did a boxing session and I was partnered with a really nice lady, about my age, who was stunning and had a figure to die for, she boxed like a prize fighter too, and to be honest I'm surprised I lived to tell the tale, the beating I got. Anyway, made me think that there is still a lot of life left in us fabulous forty somethings, if we want there to be!

    Sleep well.

Goals for Daring, Decisive December are as follows:- santapenguin.gif

    Main Focus is the Kitchen:-

"When you create structures for the chaos in your life you free yourself. You free up your time and emotional energy for the good stuff." Dr Joan Minninger.

"It's hard to beat a person who never gives up" Ruth Babe.

"Let go of the fantasy that you can escape work by procrastinating. There is no path in life that requires no effort. Prepare yourself for making a commitment to your goal by recognizing that there are costs involved in both working and trying to avoid work. The choice is not working or not working, but which type of work: even feeling guilty because of procrastinating takes some effort. When you commit to a goal, you're committing to a form of work that brings ongoing rewards. When you procrastinate, you're choosing a self-punishing form of work.

Clearly, work is required when you decide on a goal, commit to the path, and continually stretch beyond your current abilities toward the goal. But it also takes work to feel unfulfilled and to maintain a list of unachieved resolutions". The Now Factor, Neil Fiore.

Well it all went pear-shaped today. I drove 20 miles to drop my car off for warranty work, picked up the courtesy car and went to do the two mystery shops that were closed yesterday. It took me half an hour to eventually get parked in the City Centre for one of them, but I still had a 10 minute walk to the shop. After the shop I couldn't find my car, it wasn't where i'd left it. I walked around and around for about half an hour, getting increasingly panicky, before it dawned on me that I should have been looking for the courtesy car and not my own car. Then I realised that I couldn't remember what type of car they had given me, just that it was smalish and silver lol. Eventually, I found myself trying to open a number of small, silver cars where I thought i'd left the car, and one kindly opened. The day continued to go downhill from there, I eventually got home to find I couldn't get in the house, because the house keys were on the same keyring as the car keys and i'd left them with the dealer. There are hundreds of yellow pages in the garage and I haven't had a chance to deliver one yet. A few senior moments today, i'm sorry to say.

    Thanks DC,

I don't know where to start either! Martin and Flylady can only teach us so much. We need another mentor too. Any suggestions?

  • I've been looking Scrooge, I mean I look at Davina and Kylie (note: examples I wouldn't want what goes with it) and they are my age, I know they can spend a fortune on being 'Davina' and' Kylie', and their entourage, but I'd rather be a frugal fittie ! Lol !

Think I have a serious fling boogie planned for today, may not even set a time limit, have a bit of Whitney, Yazoo, Alison Moyet and Robbie lined up !

  • Hi Guys,

Well done Scrooge. It's so true about setting goals, breaking them down into manageable chunks and sticking at it. You are certainly a great example of that working. I believe it can work - just need to do it!

Yeah DC, it is possible to be a fab forty something. I know I'm panicking about being 50 but I do actually have 4 and a bit years left of being a forty something so perhaps I shouldn't be wishing them away.

There was an actress (can't remember her name - old age) and she became all glam in her forties and got a younger man and she called it the last hurrah!

From today I am changing my focus onto my forties - the here and now!

    Off to do flylady...

    DeeDee,

We need to know more about the 'last hurrah', it sounds like great fun.

Agree with you about changing your focus from the fifties to the forties. When we are in our nineties we can move from the 'last hurrah', to the 'final countdown' and join a girl band lol.....
