"When you create structures for the chaos in your life you free yourself. You free up your time and emotional energy for the good stuff." Dr Joan Minninger.

"It's hard to beat a person who never gives up" Ruth Babe.

"Let go of the fantasy that you can escape work by procrastinating. There is no path in life that requires no effort. Prepare yourself for making a commitment to your goal by recognizing that there are costs involved in both working and trying to avoid work. The choice is not working or not working, but which type of work: even feeling guilty because of procrastinating takes some effort. When you commit to a goal, you're committing to a form of work that brings ongoing rewards. When you procrastinate, you're choosing a self-punishing form of work.

Clearly, work is required when you decide on a goal, commit to the path, and continually stretch beyond your current abilities toward the goal. But it also takes work to feel unfulfilled and to maintain a list of unachieved resolutions". The Now Factor, Neil Fiore.

  • Hi Scrooge and DC

I am doing stuff honest just not getting up in time to post early!

No, haven't booked hair appointment, bought cheap box of dye from Asda's just need to pluck up courage and do it.

My big saving yesterday was the itouch with £30 pounds off from Very.co.uk with code for free delivery and done through topcashback. Also copied you and have moved to Alliance and Leics hopefully £150 back for that.

I am keeping our gas/elec bills down low - under £50-55 pound per month for both. Have big telly, PS3, heating now on etc just cut back on the ironing, hairdrying and straightening which is probably why I look a mess ha ha.

Big success last night was bread and butter pudding made up of very stale, freezeburned rolls and it was delicious with custard.

    So today;

    start oh's tax return
    flylady
iceland for milk, pop into lidl,
    40 mins exercise
5 small meals; porridge, soup, baked potato and cheese and veg, g'n't and crisps, toast and honey,
dig out sewing machine, fleece curtains

Hope your day goes to plan.

How do you keep your gas and electricity bills so low? Do you monitor useage regularly? I need to get a handle on my gas and electricity, as the bills just keep going up and up, unexpectedly.

I have swapped to a much better deal with Scottish Power though, through Quidco with £110.00 cashback, and have got NPower to allow me to pay off the debit balance over 12 months, interest free. I was going to pay it off in a oner with the savings this month, but have decided to keep the savings, might need them .

    Bye for now.

  • Hi Scrooge,

I am a bit obsessed with the gas and electricity at the moment because we moved house in the summer and came back from hols and they had taken £221 out of my account which really pee'd me off. Then a bill arrives from a year ago from changeover in old house for £115. So I know have a little book and initially wrote down meter readings hourly! Then once heating went on I took them at start of heating and when heating went off. I was also worried because we have moved from a brand new DG well insulated terraced house to a draughty victorian flat facing out to the north sea!

I noticed that the Gas boiler is costing £12 per month just to have the pilot light on. I stopped using it for hot water as we have electric shower, dishwasher and washing machine. Just boiled kettle for odd bit of hot water or filled basin from shower. So for five months gas cost £12 per month. For same 5 month period June-Oct inclusive electricity has come to £128 ie £26pcm but we were away for a month in summer so only fridge and freezer left on so really £30 ish per month.

Now heating is on in the evenings only and we are using boiler for odd hot bath. Using electric cooker/oven for more hot meals and some baking. Meter readings show that the bill for November should be about £53 for both. I then think 4 cold months with heating doubled will cost £40 per month each so altogether over the year it should be £55pcm jointly.

I have also changed supplier and got £40 back.

There are 2 adults, one teenager in house. He averages 3-4kwh for ps3 + big flat screen telly most days:eek:. I know that's terrible but he is excelling at school so I let him chill out. If I am in by myself and son is on sleepover then elec will be 5kwh, if he is home it will be 7-8 per day and can go up to 10 kwh per day at weekend but averaging out at 55kwh per week. Gas was .14 units per day, now 1 - 1.5units per day cos of heating.

Sorry have gone on but like I said I think I need to get a life:rotfl:. HTH.

Well yesterday, I had a good money making day, and picked up a number of nice jobs for early December, but I should have been focusing on the course. I got distracted by drama on the Grabbit board and Flylady has been sadly neglected again. So today, I will pick up the reins and focus on finishing the course over the weekend and catching up on Flylady.
This evening we are all going out with my MIL to see 2012 and eat at Pizza Express, all courtesy of Tesco vouchers, so that will be nice.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
