You were obviously very ill and needed to park those few feet nearer the entrance. I realised this as I sat and watched you finish your cigarette before you sauntered off looking very pleased with yourself. I only hope that when you next have to go to said hospital that you are forced to park as far away as possible from the entrance, after all you'll have time you want to smoke as you walk to the entrance. Having read all the complaints about misuse of disabled bays, my sympathy has now gone out the window after yesterdays incident.
That aside, a big thankyou to the parking attendant, who advised that there was nothing he could do about the said selfish elderly male and that it was regular occurence but then found me a large enough parking space to be able to get my little baby out of the car and to his appointment and also told me not to buy a parking ticket. What a star, if only more people were as thoughtful as him.
Merry Xmas Everyone.
So aren't disabled people allowed to smoke according to you? How the hell do you know what his disability was? You assume a lot without knowing the facts
He may have parked in the wrong space but you're being just as bad as him with a post like this.
Having kids isn't a disability...however did parents cope before these special parking bays? Come on!0 -
Whilst there is a lot of criminal abuse of the system, the main culprits are the blue badge holders themselves and their families who keep badges long after they are not needed, sell them on, use them when there is no entitlement etc etc. Also I don't see why disable badge holders get to park on double-yellow lines. Double-yellows are there for reasons of traffic flow and pedestrian safety; I don't see why that entitles disabled badge holders to park there and avoid parking fees in car parks.
As with any good scheme (which, fundamentally, the blue badge scheme is), the selfish, lazy, anti-social !!!!!!s ruin it for those with a genuine need.
I though in order to have a blue badge you would need to have details printed on the badge itself like car registration, name of holder and a renewal date, so how could they sell it on? By manipulating the writing? Maybe someone should set up an agency which monitors blue badge holders undercover and fines them something like £1000+ for their misuse or £5000 for selling them on? Just a thought...Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

They do have name and date on the badges, But NOT car registration numbers, as the blue badge is for the "Person" and not the "Car". A Blue badge holder can use the badge for any car that they are travelling in0 -
They also have a picture of the badge holder on the back of the card, as you say it's for the person and not the car (something so many people don't understand).
My mother uses hers in anything upwards of 5+ cars on a regular basis and carries it in her handbag, as she goes out with friends a lot (as well as family).0 -

All the more reason for these people to be monitored!Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

Blue badge in front of me right now
On one side its a photo passport side
Surname
Forename
Signature
Warning notice how to use it and a warning of missue plus so letters/numbers some sort of serial no
The opposite side one that is displayed
Date of Expiry
Issued by : County council
Serial number
EU flag, blue disabled wheel chair logo
The badge is not for the car but for the person who is entitled to use it. I am able boded but I can park in a blue badge area as long as my daughter who has the badge is with usI though in order to have a blue badge you would need to have details printed on the badge itself like car registration, name of holder and a renewal date, so how could they sell it on? Agreed but lets also get the idiots who are bone ideal who use disabled spaces and deprive genuine users from parking just so that get fags and booze or cash machine quicker which I see most days at the local Tesco express which I dont use because they do sweet naff all about its customers who abuse itAll the more reason for these people to be monitored!
OP I have been told before now that we are allowed to use P&C spaces when the blue badge areas are full at local super market, many disabled need space to get out of the car too. I only use blue badge areas when the holder is with us which isnt all that often now
Oh and we get filthy looks from some elderly who think thats there God damn right to park in these area for them only, and they forget some young people are disabled too0 -
amazing how I'm getting lots of the same answers!!! Don't people read the previous posts?Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.
