It was my understanding that these signs/stickers are there so if the car is in an accident, that people (medical services) are aware that there is a young child who may well be lying on the floor (in his/her carseat or otherwise) or injured. This is why we have one, no other reason!
And do you take it off when the baby's not in the car, because most people don't! Imagine someone in the emergency services coming to harm because they're trying to get someone's baby out of a burning car when baby's not there anyway! (Apologies to you and everyone who remembers to take these signs down when the baby isn't in the car.)0 -

I was told by an ex-paramedic they don't take much notice of them for that very reason.
He said they always look for people around the scene anyway.
I think they are just a daft accessory personally. Nothing like blocking your view in order to make things 'safer'...0 -

Moaning because there are no parking spots to get your sprog out of the car.
Go park at the other side of the car park then and you will have plenty of space.
Oooohhh Little Johnny might get run over as we walk across the car park...Well hold his !!!!!!! hand then.

as has already been said, this is complete rubbish
the emergency services will check vehicles, & ask the occupants, to confirm if there is anyone else in the vehicle.
also, why would the child be lying on the floor? carseats should be fastened to the seat, & other children should be wearing seatbelts.
they are a complete waste of money on tat that is simply not needed, & some of the ones ive seen are so big compared to the back window, they must be blocking some of the visibility.
Parent & child spaces
if all you want/need is a wider parking space, why not tell the car parks, supermarkets that. get them labelled as 'wider spaces'
there are lots of other people that would find a wider space useful, people with mobility problems that cant get a blue badge, people collecting bulky items etc etc
or leave the f!ng kids at home!
it does not take 2 adults & 2 children to do the shopping
even better idea, ask the supermarkets to arrange a 'parent & child shopping hour'
when you can use 2 parking spaces, & the kids can scream as much as they like, because no one else will be there
Blue badges
they have started clamping down on these, in Birmingham they have actually been clamping & then lifting the vehicles if the bluebadge holder isnt present.
maybe it should be a 2-part thing, a card you display in the car, & a swipe card you use on a machine near the space, so that they can record the usage of spaces. might even give you a certain period of free parking (or is it free anyway?)
any cards that are misused would be forfeited forever, never to be issued to that person again
& while your at it, ask them to put in a decent path to the edge of their site, & put up a nice new bus stop0 -

Im sorry but i dont not think i could leave my kids home alone, cant imagine what my 2.5 yr old would get upto! Not all familys have 2 adults and 2 children some people have more/less kids and some are single parents!Wins for 2011: ........................

Im sorry but personally you should have taken all these factors into consideration BEFORE you had children, rather than using THEM as an excuse for your OWN incompetent driving. Like has been said it ISNT a disability, everyone else manages perfectly fine regardless of how many kids they have, or whether they are single mums or not (personally cant see what the difference is to a parking spot whether your SINGLE or not), What I do see though, is a bucket load of "ME ME ME" excuses, and all pretty weak arguments and nothing to convince us that you are ANY more superior than the rest of us ABLE bodied parents, to entitle you to any MORE rights, than any other abled body person with luggage.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I agree wider spaces would be of benefit to many shoppers. Lets start a campaign for wide spaces which are not confined to the sole use of P&C,then we will all be happy. Wouldn't we:D0
