I park my car at end of the car park at the furthest point because I am sick of dumbos who hit my car with there doors fully open. When I open my door I hold on to the door, not fling it open like some people do. I occasionally take my mother shopping who has a blue badge but I can rarely find a space.

have you ever tried holding you door with one hand will trying to get the babyseat in and strapped up with the other - its virtually impossible

also i do not fling my doors open, my toddler doesnt think about other peoples cars when he's fighting and kicking to stop me strapping him in so im sorry if that makes him a 'dumbo'!

Yes I have actually long before P&C spaces existed

I never said you fling doors open, in fact its not because of people with small children as I dont park right close to the store next to P&C spaces but I use to park close by no its mainly do to people with bigger kids or most probably with adults

I added the bit you quoted me after I replied to your quote I wasn't referring to the latter comment's at you , I did say some people rather than children although parents are responsible on how kids behave. I have kids myself

Then there's the baby on board stickers in cars. So???? Do you want a lane all to yourselves on the roads as well?
No I don't want a lane to myself.
It was my understanding that these signs/stickers are there so if the car is in an accident, that people (medical services) are aware that there is a young child who may well be lying on the floor (in his/her carseat or otherwise) or injured. This is why we have one, no other reason!

I see no reason whatsoever for mum-to-be bays. I've never seen them and it seems utter nonsense to me. Pregnancy is not a disability for goodness sake!
I felt MORE need for a bay when pregnant (esp later stages!) than I do now with an 18 month old! This said I just found a suitable space (not a P n' C one as we don't have many up here anyway) and [strike]made my way[/strike] waddled slowly to the shop and back!

When I had my first 2 children there wasn`t such things as a parent and child space. When I had my last child I would have more appreciated a heavily pregnant parking space. I did use the parent and child space then. It`s much harder to get out of a space with a big bump than with a baby or a small child.

The top and bottom of it is that P&C spaces are a nice sop to those parents who think that they need special privileges, they are merely a courtesy, and are unenforcable and not particularly relevant to other shoppers. Who also out of courtesy, do not park there.

Disabled spaces are legally enforcable and needed by those who have a disabiity. So if push comes to shove the disabled shopper should take priority.

I always got in the car with them when they were like that.

The trick was to stay very calm, get in front of them, and 'push' them in by placing my hands in their hip area. That way they bend in the first place (when they go poker straight as you try to lift them in - I bet every parents has had their child do this one?) and you can then hold them in with one hand and strap with the other.

I never found a more effective, and safe/pain-free way, anyway!

They didn't do it a lot thank goodness, but then I was never one to bow down to tantrums so they soon learnt it didn't really achieve anything.

As for the baby seat - sit the seat in first and then you can have the door almost closed, as it is only your legs in the way. Once you get it past the first resistant bit, it tends to stay where you leave it iyswim? Failing that, strap it on from your side of the car once you are in.

It is all about strategies. I used to keepa selection of toys for the car,the distraction of holding a "new" toy usually meant they didnt realise they were being strapped in. I always used to tilt the front seats forward as I left the car to enable easy entrance with the car seat when they were using the removable seat. When they are older it is no problem getting them in and out.

Really, please do show me where you get this relevant information from. I am assuming these spaces are allocated to those with a badge that says "Mum n Toddler Badge", securing that they have more priority to that space than anyone else.

    No Badge = No right!!!!!

Just thought I'd throw a comment in - if you join the Tesco mother and toddler club you do actually get a badge to display in your car window allowing you priority for parking in the m&b spaces!!!
Also, although I didn't take them up on it - when I complained to my local Sainsburys about the miniscule number of m&b spaces and asked if they could perhaps not provide more - they suggested I park in a disabled bay! Imagine the reaction I would have got:eek:

I cannot believe the people on here.
Moaning because there are no parking spots to get your sprog out of the car.
Go park at the other side of the car park then and you will have plenty of space.
Oooohhh Little Johnny might get run over as we walk across the car park...Well hold his !!!!!!! hand then.
