simbalo - I think different plans suit different people and it sounds like you've realised what does and doesn't work for you, so good luck with the new approach:T
Granny - touched the chart helped
    Vix - :D:D It's done,it's over:T :T . The rest of your life lies before you...

Vixstar - I didn't really have a final target weight originally, as I wanted to go as far as I could without becoming miserable with food restrictions. I found my natural balance and settled happily for that. Now I am aiming to get back to where I reached before so do have a target in mind.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Hi everyone, just found this thread. Can I please join? I have ALOT of weight to get rid off. Have tried dieting all my life, tried all the usual, and been very unsuccesful. Am considering surgery as a last resort but have decided to give it another go, the old fashioned way. I am in remission from breast cancer and have arthritis in my knees, so exercise difficult, though I love swimming but hate to go when kids may be there for obvious reasons. I did belong to a health club which was great as I went swimming 4-5 mornings a week and also did aqua fit, but it closed down.
Anyway heres to a fresh start.

Hiya Somnium, it's LA Fitness that did the deal, it could be cheap because I'm in little old Lincoln but the gym is lovely. Well done on the weight loss, I'm struggling at the moment but refuse to give up.

Ohh, I'm just down the A15 from you simbalou! Surely you could just walk up and down Steep Hill each day and it'd be equivalent to a workout! My friend has work exhibited at The Collection there sometimes too.

Well, last night I ended up having to take my youngest son to A+E after he headbutted the corner of a cabinet in his bedroom (accidentally), and had a gaping cut. He's had it 'glued' back together, and is fine now, but has had the day off. The rest of today has been spent @ my older 2 boys' school for their academic review. Good reports, but it was so time consuming. No Wii today, but have spent half an hour putting up curtain track/curtains, so a bit of stretching.

I'm still happily using FoodFocus to log my food, and believe that is really helping to keep me on track, and definitely is ensuring I am not 'blind' snacking. Every calorie is counted, which is stopping me eating too much. I'm also using only the centre part of a plate for my portion, so as to adjust my portion size - I can eat a mansize meal!

Vixstar I hadn't initially had a target end weight in mind. I think way back when I was a WW member, I was advised to focus on the short-term goals, but I think it is sometimes useful to consider how each short-term goal is getting you closer to a longer-term one. I want to lose 56lb in total, which even at 1lb a week puts me at target by the end of this year.

I don't know Beanie. The person who first came to view came back for a third time today and put in an offer. Phoned ex and he said to take it so I did.

I expect it'll take about 6 weeks before we have to move.!

Oh Delly love, of course you cried, it is perfectly natural. Although it is a good and positive move for you now, you are quite rightly having a little cry for the end of a part of your life which did for a time make you happy. Although it ended badly it started well and I suspect your tears were an acknowledgement that it is final and finally over.

Great big hugs to you honey, you are wonderful:A

Thanks Marion, Think I might just have a little grieving session all to myself tonight and then party on down for my freedom tomorrow.

I can't believe it's only been 4 months since he left and it will all be tied up all being well before Easter. (Did I tell you I'm looking for a divorce?).

    Unreal!
