I was caught out in the beginning phase of my jogging in buying some "genuine" Reebock trainers on ebay that within days were falling apart, so I know what you mean. One of the sellers I have bought from now was actually the small running shop in Edinburgh where I got fitted originally - Footworks. They have an ebay shop where they sell some of their stock, so I knew it was them and I could trust them!
I didn't want it to sound like that at all - sorry! Any chat about feet and shoes is good in my book! I just don't like to give advice and become the resident 'expert'....
Footworks are a great company so you got some really good advice.
Sizing is also a nightmare - you are right Bails - I always think if you wiggle your big toe, and can see the end of your toe about a cm from the end you should be OK. I am usually a 6 and these are a 6 and a half. The other thing is that they are often US sizes converted to UK sizes and that's where reason goes out of the window! Try a few on and don't be lead by the size on the box.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope it does help someone anyway!
Back on the subject of eating, I was a bit naughty and decided I would have some of OH's chocolate cereal for supper. (I am a health freak, he is a junk food freak who is skinny as a rake no matter what he eats. It's VERY HARD living in a house where half of what is in the cupboard is junk, and you're trying to slim!)
So I was feeling a bit guilty because normally for supper I have rice pudding or a slice of toast - I start to feel hungry in the evenings and my motto is, if I'm hungry, eat. I do not believe in starving myself. But today I just felt like something chocolatey - must have been the jogging.
Anyway I put some in a bowl with some hot soya milk - mmmm! Then it turned out to be chewy. I made inquiries ,since I know nothing about said box of chocolate cereal, and OH said innocently, "yeah, the box has been in there for months, but it's still two weeks away from its sell-by date." I explained to him that sell-by dates no longer apply once you have opened the packet and it starts to go off!!!! Doh!
So the dog was very pleased. He got coco pops for supper, and I had my toast instead.0 -
Hi all, been lurking for a while and thought I would join. New year..New me :j
Im hoping to lose 3 stone by the July, I previously lost 1 stone just over a year ago but it went back on due to the loss of a loved one, but I know I can do it. I plan on just cutting out the junk crips/sweets etc, this is how I done it before.
Anyway enough ramblng from me, I have to set my first target, no idea what a good target would be, any ideas? Perhaps set it for March to begin with.
Thanks all for reading and good luck xx0 -
Hello Midnightoil, :hello:
3 stones = 42 lbs, weeks to July = approx 26
So, at a rate of 1-2lbs per week should be achievable on a sensible diet.

I just found this place and wow am really impressed. You guys are such an inspiration, I hope I can follow in your footsteps.
I've been trying to loose weight for approximatley 3 months now and for a good reason. In the next few months I will be starting IVF but in order to do that I have to have a BMI of less than 29, when I started I was 14.7stone and had a BMI of 32 but after a bit of excercise most days and reasonibly sensible eating Im sat at about 13.11stone and a BMI of approx 29.4.
So am only a few pounds off my target but would like to be healthy for my IVF and so have decided I would like to be nearer 12.10stone. Using Food Focus who's link I found on the first page I calculated I can reach this target by March 6th without too much more effort. This will put me at 27.3 BMI much better I think you'll agree.
So I thought you guys would be fab for moral support and help. Hope thats ok with you. I dont get huge amounts of free time but I'll check in as much as I can. Well off to do 20 minutes step on the Wii before bedBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2
