  • OK all, so I've found out my BMR and wanto to check that I've done this right.

Using the BMR calculator my BMR is 2757.

I am what I would call light active (I walk a mile or 2 a day going to work, also go to gym 2-3 times a week) so this should be right?

    BMR 2725 x 1.375 = 3747

So 3747 is what I need calorie-wise to maintain my weight? Seems a lot!!

And to lose weight I need to reduce my calorie intake to a minimum of 2747? Seems very high still - considering the guideline daily amount set on packs of food etc is about 2000?

Leverton - I'm studying basic Spanish (L164 I think) with a view to building up towards a modern language degree although my organisation will really have to improve before that. Having a bit of a mad panic as hadn't realised when my second assignment was due in.

    Hi guys,

No HHE today *smacks own hand* but I have done some housework, stripped beds, etc. It's just been nice to spend the day with my OH really.

Grannynise - I use FoodFocus to log my food/exercise. I think the only way to put in your meals is to try to mentally log what you consider the main ingredients are. If you also try to choose the healthier option on a menu, or at a buffet table, it would help you out. So you could then convert that onto the food log as eg. 100g chicken, 120g veg, bread roll, orange juice, glass of white wine, etc.

I have even put my own homemade recipes into the food log's create a meal, and then when I measure a portion size out of that, I can get a good idea of my calorie intake.

    Food today:
    B - porridge
L - bacon, eggs, 1 slice wholemeal toast
    D - caesar salad
    Snack - 1 oatcake biscuit

I can really recommend the Nairn's oatcake biscuits. They are a good source of complex carb, so a slow burning energy food, and they taste absolutely divine! Last week we had the fruit & spice ones, this week we are consumer testing stem ginger, because that's just the way we roll! :-D

I am unsure what my loss will be for next week. Monday will be my first 'weigh in' with my friend in Liverpool, who I have agreed to 'Slim Buddy' with. We started on 1st Jan, so we gave ourselves a 12 day head start! Our joint target is 2 stone loss, and hoping to achieve 7lb a month (yikes!). Here's hoping.

Tomorrow will be my first roast dinner I'll have cooked for the family on my healthy eating plan, so I will have to bulk out mine on veggies, and resist the roast potatoes and yorkshires!

Well done all you crazy exercise maniacs!! Honest to god, -4 on a beach in January - running!!! Words fail me! He he.

My OH was a bit bored today, so I may encourage him to go out for a walk after our lunch tomorrow.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
