  • well that is absurd dragon - I feel  on your behalf.
Yes big welcome to kj74:T . Good luck with your first weigh in. I'm an sw fan. Interesting household with your OH doing ww:D . Still, as we know on this forum, different plans/ways of doing it suit different people, so all everything welcome here.

Bit of a washout day for me - hit with a migraine at lunchtime ( and I hadn't been up that long:o ). Drugs sorted the pain but left me completely washed out and with munchies that had to be given in to - so no guilt/apologies there. Nothing like Victory's hypo's of course, but non negotiable when I feel that drained and in need of sugar.
However, the good news is , that I only had about 8 biscuits out of 12 in the packet:D .

    Green sw Meals today:
bkfast: 2 ryvita (1/2 HEB) with remains of yesterdays mayo, tuna (other half of HEB), cottage cheese combo. No syns for mayo as I counted them in yesterday syn count.
Lunch: HM sweet potato & split pea soup : 'free'

    snack: 2 x weetabix (HEB), 8 custard creams(24 syns I think:D ), raw sweet potato

Dinner: chickpea/spinach/red onion/tomato/cumin,tumeric,ginger,garlic/ & 2 syns worth of chorizo (20g)chopped:drool: (adds great flavour) served with 20g basmati. Quick & scrummy.
HEA - milk in tea & weetabix.

Might have another weetabix before bed and count the breakfast ryvita/tuna as 4.5 syns. Some where in my head is the logic that I have been very good on the syn front today so can 'afford' to do that - giving me a total of 6.5 syns, as the biscuits don't count:confused::D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Of course you can gememily:hello: . Just throw yourself into the chat. It is very difficult to lose weight without support: the secret we find is to stick with this forum through thick and thin. Have you seen pst one and what raph has achieved? Do have a look at the pics.
How do you hope to change how/what you eat?
As for the wii fit - lots of keen newbies here and it sounds a lot of fun.

EDIT Hi Beanie - I confess I hadn't taken on board you had chronic pain:(. Poor you, I know how draining it can be. Anyparticular area?

  • Thanks Brighton Belle, I guess I am trying to find ways of eating more healthy without it taking ages to prepare. Because I work long hours I don't particularly enjoy spending ages preparing a meal so I just whack a pizza in the oven or something else equally bad for me. I guess its just about getting into different habits. I also have a tight budget so I am trying to do it all for little money! It just seems too daunting and confusing!

My OH has had chronic pain for years now, it's in his neck and between the shoulder blades. Basically his discs are drying out was what the last doctor said, he's on max meds now and it doesn't really help. I do my workouts when he goes for his rest at night, its the only spare time. So i really feel for people suffering from pain, i know he has had it bad. Don't get me started on Migraines, i had to take him to hospital once it got so bad.

It can be, so just take it one step and a time. It would be too easy to give up through exhaustion or too much info causing meltdown.
How about spending a little time here and there planning some simple meals - make sure it is something tasty that you would look forward to eating and then cook 4 portions at once and freeze the other 3 for those evenings you are too tired. Then try another one and do the same and vey gradually you will built up a repertoire of yummy HM ready meal: perhaps do some bulk cooking at the weekends? This is how I have gradually done it. I know have a 14 day menu that takes mininmal effort now because it is all written down.
I use a slow cooker too which means chuck it al in in the morning and ready for when you come home (pls extra portions to freeze.) This can use cheaper, tougher meat and tenderizes it beautifully.
It sounds like small changes could make all the differnce.
Good meals needn't take ages, but it does take a bit of time to research: so one step at a time. Cooking like this also is quite money saving:money: .

Beanie - I imagine this is wear & tear from the cp? It must be hard feeling it is only going to get more restrictive in the future:(. I can relate a little with my arthritis - I'm aching all over with it at the mo, and it may cause big mobility probs in the future - but, and it is a big but, not at the mo as it is controled with drugs so it is easy not to worry about the future. I appreciate this is quite different for you as it is happening now.
I do understand about the draining side - as my arthritis is relatively 'invisable' at the mo, compared to when I needed sticks last winter, I sometimes think peeps don't realise what is like to have this constant drain on your energy resources (I don't mean peeps on here, just generally). Of course for you, just normal necessary stuff takes 3 times more energy than many of us.
    Can only offer:grouphug: .

Not looking forwards to weigh in this week as have been to a wedding yesterday and my birthday chinese take away today :o .

Dragon I can't believe that they tell you off for putting on weight because of the meds. Just goes to show how some people in the medical profession really have no idea. I totally sympathise with everyone with chronic pain - I get the odd niggle and it annoys me so I can't imagine how hard it is to cope with normal life.

The wii fit sounds fun - but out of my price range but I do "enjoy" if that's the right word :rotfl: my dvds even if I don't look anything like Davina/Nell etc :j:j

Welcome gememily - you'll get lots of support here :T
