After that I'll walk the dogs and tire the youngest (3yo Beagle) out so that I can go to town & know that the house will be intact when I get back in LOL!!
If only I could train her to shred the financial documents we'd be set.:rotfl: Her latest craze is cardboard, so she's been getting the tubes from wrapping paper when I'm done a roll. We're all happy then.
Take the first step.

:rotfl: I totally sympathise Max, the Beagle, goes into the bathroom bin & robs all the toilet roll tubes before they can get given to the gerbils! Our elder dog , a 14yo Labrador, was the worst chewer I've ever had. Her best had to be the christmas eve morning when I got up to one full shoe chewed to the sole and the other one fully intactI had polished ds (then 18mths) shoes ready for christmas day & left them on the fridge, safely out of reach I thought!! I had to go into the Clarkes shop to get another pair and had a stand up argument with the shop assistant who wanted me to get the same size. He'd already had them for 6wks and I wasn't going to have to buy another pair 6wks later so I insisted on the next size up, despite the phrophecies (sp?) of doom from the assistant. Amazingly he's now 14yo and his feet are just fine :rotfl:
I still don't put presents under the tree as my Labrador when I was little chewed the lot one christmas. My mum & dad spent hours cleaning up talcum powder & minced up candles & leatherwe never found out what they all were, just thanked the relatives very profusely for their gifts as though we had them LOL!!
Makes you wonder really why we adore the smelly, hairy, messy things really0 -
Morning to all and a Happy Birthday to Catowen.
I have not posted on this thread for a long time and when I did I had a different username. I find it very comforting to know you are all out there flying the OS flag. I try to be OS but not always very good.
My DD has gone to her dad for the holiday and I am going to pick her up from Prague, where he has bought a house, on 30th.
I am more or less ready for the big day, I agree with the previous poster that the day to day planning tends to get forgotten over the festive period and I had not planned anything for this week. With DD being away and Christmas food mainly being eaten in other places I had completely forgotten to plan. Never mind will eat up some stuff that is stashed in the freezer for just such an event - anyone got an idea what I can do with some liver?
Good luck with the interview Essexgirl.

Happy birthday Catowen  :bdaycake: and good morning to the rest of you.
I'm sooo tired, not sleeping well and no appetite, think it's because my med has increased. Am OK, it's just slowing me down rather. I've brought a cup of tea, my SAD lamp and the laptop back to bed. No rush today. I'm so relieved I don't have to deal with hordes here this Xmas. Not my best time of year. I did it last year, so hopefully I might even get one more year off before it's my 'turn' again.
Back to the sweetie production later when I have more supplies of white chocolate....oh dear! That means I need to go to a shop:eek: Or maybe I can send DS?
MIL to the station at lunchtime. Other than that another day pottering at home. Lots of laundry to clear and iron. Must start and get the fridge cleared. There are YS mushrooms in there so will make a pot of soup. Might fancy that. Will think of something in the 'use it up' line for tea tonight as well. Last time I have to do a proper meal for several days!
Need to get some knitting/sewing/reading together to take with me otherwise I'll die of boredom. TV isn't a big thing in my life, can only cope with it for so long. ALthough looking forward to Wallace and Gromit on Xmas day!
Hope you all get through your lists of stuff to do today. I think maybe I would be more productive with a list."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I like to have liver lightly stirfried with veg. I hate it when it's all over cooked and tough, either that or with onions, gravy, veg and a big heap of mash!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

A very happy birthday to Catowen. _party_:bdaycake:_party_ May all your wishes come true.
Big hugs to ((((((((((((Beth and Smoky))))))))))))
((((((((((((Sybil)))))))))))) I hope you survived SIL's visit last evening. I will have some chocolate today to help in your recovery.
Good thoughts and wishes for those feeling poorly, awaiting results from medical tests and the like.
Welcome to those who are new. You have come to the most lovely group of people you could hope to meet. I'm also very new and have been welcomed with open arms.
A bit of a busy morning ahead for me. I need to make a last minute run to the bank and pick up a few bits I want, but don't need to get. I do have the money set aside for it though. :j
DH had me hide out elsewhere in the flat last night while he wrapped my Christmas pressies. He's so cute. I could hear a few mutterings about tape not tearing right and uncooperative paper. :rotfl: He did a lovely job wrapping them tho.
I have one last pressie to wrap for him today and wrapping is done!
I did most of my heavy cleaning yesterday and so just did a quick blitz to the kitchen and bath this morning. My after DH leaves for work tidy up is done. Bless him, he does try hard to pick up after himself so he definitely gets credit for that. :T
I've made my phone call to the bank after they tried doing a direct debit on the wrong date and then charged me a fee for their mistake. I spoke with a lovely young man who quickly got it sorted for me. I truly appreciate good customer service as it seems to get harder and harder to find these days. Having worked in customer service before, I know it is not always an easy job. I told him how much I appreciated his service. I think it's important to let people know you appreciate a job well done.
OS today, I will be doing the ever growing pile of ironing so it's done and over with. For dinner tonight, I'm making potatoes au gratin with ham in. I'll throw a green veg on the side and it's sorted.
I have a group meeting to lead today and need to be there by 1pm so I'd best get going.
Have a wonderful day all. Take a few moments just for you to treat yourself kindly.
