welcome aboard this forum jemma :hello:

well you have made the first step of identifying what is making you unhappy and identified how you can help make yourself happy.

When I started a 4 year course many moons ago, I was homesick and literally ate and ate. I went up 3 dress sizes in a year (prob comfort eating/bad diet, too many late night chippies, 5 am bakeries and pints of cider n' black :o )

Anyway...stick around, you will get lots of ideas, motivation and recipes here. Think EE will be a much easier plan for new people to try out.

I say SW works..it has been the only healthy eating plan I enjoy and successfully maintained my weightloss.

:hello:Hello! My name is Jemma, and I have joined MoneySavingExpert primarily for this thread.:hello:

I moved to uni this year, and the whole thing has been very stressful, and my weight has suffered. Every time I step on the scales my weight has just gone up and up and it's making me feel so down, that I just have no motivation to cook.

BUT this has all come to a head now. I really really need to change, otherwise everything will just go downhill. I have tried slimming world many times, but never been successful, purely for lack of willpower. Extra easy sounds like a top plan, I can stop having to hoard HEs for dinner and eat real breakfast, something I always crave on slimming world when it's cold and dark and can't face another piece of cold fruit :rotfl:

I would also like to add that it isn't the alcohol that has done this. Believe it or not, I don't drink due to emetophobia (phobia of being sick)

This story has gone on far too long. I need to loose not much, about a stone, but that is plenty to be getting on with. I considered going to a group, but the bus is £3 and on top of the membership and weekly charges I just can't afford it.

Please help, I feel so out of control and not in charge of my own body. :o

Just wanted to make sure everyone counting their syns correct, if anyone knows this is wrong please correct me, but my consultant has emailed me this, and the syn value still not showing on syns online.

I seem to remember Colemans white sauce is 5 for the packet and you use your HEA? It is a bit bland, but you could put some parsley and herbs or whatever to shooxh it up a bit.

Make a parsley sauce? The trick to this is CORNFLOUR. Cornflour means you don't need flour and butter, which will rack up the syns. Last time I checked it was about 1.5syns a tablespoon, not too bad seeing as you'll need that for about 1/2 pint milk.

Measure out 1/2 pint of milk, and pour into a saucepan to heat, leaving a little left.
Add 1 Tablespoon of cornflour to the jug with the little cold milk left in.
When the milk is boiling, pour it back into the jug, and stir with a spoon for about a minute.
    Stir constantly to avoid lumps
When it is thicker, add 4 TBS chopped parsley and a little white pepper to taste.
Mix this in with your salmon for the fish pie

That sounds great, thanks I'll try that as we already have cornflour in the cupboard :)

  • Hmm well the chicken tikka masala wasn't worth the effort really. I used thigh fillets instead of breast, and they had a texture I really didn't like! I did use prawns as well though, which saved the day somewhat!

    So today has been:

    EE
    B) Melon
    L) Ainsley harrot lemon and coriander cous cous and red kidney beans & superfree veg soup
    D) Chicken & king prawn tikka masala & rice
    A) 28g grated cheddar
    B) 1 tbsp olive oil
Syns: 2 x vodka and cherry diet coke (5) & tbsp tomato puree (1)

Oh, and I have all together too much food in the house now! I end up doing this on SW, I get ideas and want to try them, forgetting that I already have X other meals in the house that need eating too! I am very excited about the gammon, wedges and peas that I have planned for tomorrow night, and am also planning a quorn sausage and bacon quiche thingy, a cooked breakfast and cooking some more veg soup.

I might end up having another couple of drinks before the night is out! ;)
