Hi All,when extra easy was explained to me I thought - never -all that we'd been taught not to mix red & green.
But it does work - why -'cos you can only have one Healthy A and one Healthy B so if you think about it you are saving 12 syns this way. I agree as mentioned before for EE to work you need to keep to it 100%
I look at it this way - if I want rice or potatoes then I have an EE day otherwise it will be red or green then I can have my 2HEA & 2HEB0 -

I think technically you are not supposed to make cakes with chickpeas because in SW it is seen as food abuse, however I think having it once a week or so isn't going to do any harm. I can see how having 2 or 3 a day could be classed as abuse but not once a week! It was so filling actually that I couldn't even manage to eat any syns other than the 1/2 syn for the baking powder in the cake! If I did fancy it more often does anyone know how many syns for a tin of chickpeas?
Love
Marion
Canned chickpeas are 1½ syns per 28gms on a red day which is the syn value you should be using if you use chickpeas as a flour substitute.
As you have pointed out this is seen as misuse of free foods and will make a difference to your weight loss if it is eaten too often so beware!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
blackberry-rum wrote: »Flat Eric's post, as with many other posts on here, has really clarified a lot for me. I attended a SW class for about six months and d'you know I still didn't really understand what I was doing and why. I never even figured out that the HEAs were calcium and the HEBs fibre ... and I swear it was never explained to me. (But I think the first consultant had lost interest, then there was a hiatus, then we had a very very bouncy positive new consultant whom I found very scary ... she was super-thin too which I don't think is an inspiration, more of a "look how thin I am and look how podgy you lot are" but maybe that's just me. And then I stopped going). So thanks again all of you for your continued helpfulness, and Catt I'd prefer someone cuddly as a consultant, not someone stick thin.
You should come to my group then
I actually agree with you on the matter of thin Consultants being less of an inspiration - one tends not to imagine they have ever had much of a weight problem in the first place.
Flat Eric, you said you didn't know why parsnips, sweetcorn etc aren't free on a red day....well, it's because they are heavy on the carbs. Also when you were explaining about the satiety of SS foods as opposed to S foods, it's actually the other way round. SS foods contain a larger amount of water and therefore can be eaten in far greater quantities than S foods for the same energy (calorie) 'cost'.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
... have amended post 3 accordingly.0

Morning everyone.
1/2 pound gain for me at weigh in on Tuesday which I was not expecting (my home scales lead me to believe I had lost a pound!)but more fool me if I think that I can get away with eating my (Hotel Chocolate) chocolate and not put on! It didnt have any nutritional info. so I couldnt syn it and thus more got munched than intended! I also bought some organic sweet chilli sauce and again no nutritional info but top ingredient ! sugar!
I also did the HEB challenge and found that whilst I was still having my HEB options, because I couldnt repeat (my favourite), I was wasting syns on snacks because I was hungry...
So I know where I went wrong and after consulting my food op book and noting that things havent got back on track since xmas and that for about 6 weeks Ive stuck with either the same weight / put 1/2 pound on / 1/2 pound off, Im hoping to get things turned round this week :j
Yesterday didnt go too well as someone in work bought cakes so 11 syns gone in a flash. I did resist the chip butties after the pub quiz last night though despite my drooling! but did consume 3 vodkas and slimline tonics (although they were the small 25ml measures).
Today is a new day however and I am having a Mix to match day. here are my choices: -
Breakfast : neutral Hi fi bar (HEB)
late breakfast: (if I fancy it) omelette or a mullerlight
Lunch: (Green)
Jacket chips topped with fried eggs cooked in frylight (free)
Tea (red)
steak with lots of roasted veg (onions, peppers, leeks, mushrooms, tomatoes)
Snacks
nectarine(s)
greek 0% yogurt / pineapple
syns
gravy and yorkshire pudding with my steak
Both HEA for milk today I think (means I can have a milky cofee later)
not sure on my other HEB, might use it for some alpen or bread and have french toast!0 -
Well i fell off the wagon so to speak yesterday, i was good all day until evening when i succumbed to a portion on fish and chips from the chippy where i work, they were delish and i dont regret having them, so its back on the straight and narrow for me from today.
My 100% week has now become 6 days...whooops...DFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0 -
I joined last Wednesday night and started my diet on Saturday having had a subway (mystery shop job) on Thurs lunchtime and then a Mexican meal out on the Thurs evening for my hubbie's birthday. I then had a Pizza Hut buffet lunch on Fri as my son was then going away with his Dad for a week and I wouldn't see him.
So with 4 full days of dieting I lost 1.5lbs. I was a little disappointed with the loss, as I would have liked more, especially on my 1st week and having so much to lose (around 4 stones).
However, tomorrow is a new day and I shall be back on it with gusto all week then.
I think you're living up to your name. I don't think any of us on here would be disappointed with that loss after eating all that!!!!0 -
I have just added up the syns from my fish and chips last night and all in all yesterday i ate 45.5 syns,( that includes my normal syns as well) i know we should use flexi syns for things like this but i have decided to take it from my syns allowance for the week and see how i get on. Im one of those people who work backwards with their syns, i find it easier and you dont beat yourself up if you go over one day, it works for me and always has.DFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0
