Hi Shirleytch I feel the same as you, I just can't get motivated and the change from the straightforward red and green days to EE has seriously blurred things for me. I reached target last year but I have since put about 10lbs on and I want to lose it again.
I think that I will put a message on each evening and write a food diary.
Good luck for a better day tomorrow.

Flat Eric has finally caught up with all the posts so firstly WELL DONE ANGIE LOVES VEG. I am so so pleased for you _party_
:T  :j Very well done.
we all look forward to hearing how you get on with maintaining. My consultant reminded me I was only 6 1/2 pounds from target last night and it would be great to follow EE and have the extra B
I absolutely will not allow you to leave the forum SKINT CATTYour posts are really helpful and will be sorely missed so PLEASE DONT GO. I know things are not working out for you at the moment but we are here for you so please dont leave. I dont have a magic wand but do have a dodgy hug for you :grouphug:
Someone mentioned about the best way to cook steak. I have no idea Im afraid as most of my cooking involves sticking the oven / grill on and hoping for the best! I have heard though that its a good idea to cook the steak from room temperature. Cant remember why. And thank you to JEMMABE for the wrap in foil after its cooked suggestion to allow the meat to rest. Fab idea. :j
Thank you also Angie loves veg (and others) for your comments about TOFU. My tesco order arrives tomorrow and I will be having a yummy stir fly including my first try of tofu - I will let you know what I think.
Huge hugs to everyone who needs one. If I dont mention you specifically, please be rest assured that I am thinking of you all and sending huge hugs and lots of support.
Remember we are all here for you when things (the scales) dont deliver. You are all doing fabulously well whether you gain, maintain or lose and big pats
on the back all round :T Remember no matter what the scales say, stick with it. And if you do eat too many syns, start the next day afresh. Its when we fall off the wagon (so to speak) that we need the most support because it is so easy to think "(very rude word) it" and munch munch munch!!!shirleytch wrote: »First of all well done to everyone who is losing and staying the same. Typically I stick to the plan i.e. have sw friendly meals but then have too many syns. unmeasured wine, an extra HEB Im not allowed if following xtra easy. that treat size choc bar, unmeasured sweet chilli sauce, a pudding from m&s that is less than my allowance but then throw in all the syns on top!
Its easy done.
Its worth bearing in mind that the closer you get to target, the weight loss will slow down. Not fair but thats the way it is. Speak with your consultant about your syn allowance. Im only allowed 10-12 syns now as I only have a few pounds to go. I feel deprived that I cant have my 15. I might not want to have 15 but the thought that I cant seems to make me sulk.....
Anyway how to get yourself remotivated. Remind yourself why you are on this journey. What was/what is your goal? Do you still own the clothes that you wore when you first joined SW? Try them on! Do they fit ? Nope? is that pair of trousers falling round your ankles?! Yes? Do a little dance then (dont fall over mind!)
any old pre-sw pictures hiding anywhere? remind yourself of what you looked like pre-sw and now how fab do you look? Stick the photo in the fridge / in the biscuit tin to help those "I want to pick" moments.
Work out how much weight you have lost and how many tins of beans that equates to. Now go to the supermarket and fill a basket with the relevant number of tins. then carry it round for 5 / 10 mins? a struggle? that was the weight you were carrying round all of the time!
Find a quiet moment and sit down with your food optimising book. Remind yourself of what it says and of all the different options open to you.
It took me at least a year to twig I could have fruit cocktail or a baked apple with mincemeat as a HEB. Sometimes our brains only see what we want them to see and things get missed. Reacquaint yourself with all the superfree foods and go back a couple of pages and print off the lovely lists someone has kindly posted. THANK YOU BY THE WAY.
Do you have any old food diaries? any old diaries from when you had really good losses? why not try that week's menu and see how you get on?
Think about what your ultimate favourite SW food is? (mine's jacket chips, eggs and 85g ham!). If I know I have that for tea then it keeps meall day as I know I have it to look forward to.
Pick up the latest SW mag, buy some old copies off ebay (the mags tend to go for a reasonable price - the other SW books NOT!). Plenty of fab ideas.
Check out the SW site (if you have internet access). lots of recipes, updated Healthy Extra Information. free weekly menus and much much more. Make sure you log your weight each week because as and when you get each award, the award pops up and also you can see how you are getting on - the little line moves which is motivating to look at (especially when the line is moving downwards). (it is moving upwards for me at the moment but will soon change!) Also the food diary option meaning you can keep an online record of your food choices each day. Also you can "comment" as to how you are feeling - useful for reading back on in a couple of months to see how you felt and how that influenced your food choices.
Try the HEB challenge. I cant take the credit for coming up with this but I am following it this week. IF you are following red or green days then that means you are allowed 14 HEB options. Make sure each one is different i.e. dont repeat a HEB in the 7 day period. Here is my list of HEB choices for the week. I am having 5 green days and 2 extra easy thus 12 HEB allowed:
1. 28g Alpen
2. 2 level dsp pumpkin seeds
3. Hi fi bar
4. 113g chicken
5. 7 ryvita high fibre crackerbread
6. 85g ham
7. Alpen light x 2
8. 42g all bran
9. tin of HEB friendly soup
10. 3 slices weight watchers malted danish brown bread
11. 2 Weetabix
12. 71g apricots.
Try to plan your menus ahead so that you know what you are having and are less likely to have to throw something together at the last moment and when suddenly the unhealthy option is the most attractive because all it involves is open freezer, unwrap and chuck in oven! Plan some new (exciting) things for you try perhaps spending a bit more time in the kitchen at the weekend or when time allows making something you have fancied trying for ages but just havent had the time.
Make a list of your favourite syns and stick on the fridge so you can remind yourself what the syn value is. Its easy to forget.
Dont forget to measure everything, your HEA and HEB options particularly and dont forget if you are following EE, just one HEA and one HEB option only.
Plan your syns - I find when I dont, I go over. Its easy to say "I will just munch that treatsize chocolate bar I brought to work just in case I fancy it" only to forget that you want your syns for that large glass of wine and chocolate moose in the evening. I find the more I syn, the worse I syn if that makes sense. I.e if things start to go pear shaped they invariably get worse and i syn even more because I get cross with myself and therefore punish myself by .. eating more syns ! no logic to it but there you go.
on this point have a sneaky read in your newsagent of pages 101 and 102 of this week's Grazia magazine. (it has madonna on the cover) It does not mention SW but does talk about how trying to be too good can make us go the opposite and end up being ultra naughty! Its not worth buying the mag just for the article, but if you do get chance to read it, it is rather interesting.
Buy some luminous stars from your local newsagent/stationers and write different weight losses on them i.e 1/2 pound, 1 pound, 2 pound etc. Write out enough to cover the weight you have left to lose and stick on a pinboard. Each time you lose a pound, remove a star, each time you gain a pound, add a star etc. having something visual to look at (i found) influenced me because I knew I wanted to be able to remove a star after weigh in so would resist munching!
Hope some of this helps.0 -
Hmmmm just writing my food diary and I realised I've only had one HEb today. Why do I feel bad about eating lots of weetabix but then would happily eat chocolate? I think I should definitely eat my HEs though, especially if I am exercising a lot. Got my hot water bottle out today to try and relax some of my muscles so I can go again tomorrow and try and beat my 5k time!
Food Diary:
Breakfast: 2 cups of tea and an apple
Lunch: Jacket Potato and cottage cheese
*cup of tea*
GYM
Snack: 2 clementines
Dinner: 'risotto' with risotto rice, stock cube(1.5 syns), peas, sweetcorn and carrots.
Supper: 4 weetabix (2x HEb) with HEA milk (eeeep! I can't help it I just love weetabix)
Syns: 2 Jaffa cakes (5 syns) small flake (4 syns) stock cube (1.5) = 10.5 syns
An awful lot of evening snacking, but my dinner wasn't very nice, so i wanted the weetabix for comfort! That and I sort of forgot one is eligable for 2HEbs in a dayI have no idea how I normally never forget, memory like a sieve today!

Nic2075- a great idea cooking a few jackets for later, have you tried slicing them and frying in fry light (like scollops) saves ages waiting for sw chips and a nice change imo0

in contrast to my rather large post above, I just wanted to share that I have had my first no syn day in as long as I can remember  I am very proud of myself0

Thanks K66 - I think planning is key for me and for whatever reason I have fallen off the planning bandwagon. I have twice before reached goal weight and then stupidly allow it to climb relentlessly up again. Why do I do it - arrghh!! Will look out for you on here tomorrow - wishing you a better day. Let me know how you go, S0 -
FlatEric - thanks for taking time to reply and giving me some helpful hints - I think the weighing is true when I started I weighed everything - now I rely on looking at it and we know how those portions can grow. I love your idea of flourescent starts. And yes I do remind myself how many cans of beans lighter I am. Thanks for the support - will try and get back on track and get a good result to give me a boost next week.
Thanks all0 -
I hate the idea of this HEb challenge. I don't know what I'd eat if my weight losses slowed down due to my unhealthy weetabix consumption
My housemates and I were talking yesterday about food and cravings and stuff, they were literally salivating at the talk of chocolate, and I just thought... I'd rather have weetabix
I had some syns on chocolate today, and I didn't enjoy it THAT much. If I hadn't just eaten 3 weetabix, I'd have spent my syns on it instead of the chocolate. There is not one thing i dislike about it!
