I'm the same peachy - just had a cup-a-soup (3 syns) and a bag of skips (4 syns) but running out of food (I ususally go home for lunch) and the snow has started heavy again.

Can't go home unless we get an announcement from the Directors (especially as I probably live the closest by miles I can't make a fuss) which isn't going to happen until 2pm at the VERY earliest.

I have a phobia about being away from home when it snows. This time in 2006 I was working 12 miles from home (only 2 miles now) and I was working for Scrooge (you think I'm joking). He didn't let us leave until 4.30pm by which time transport and roads were horrendus. I got half way home in about 30mins - the remaining 5 miles took me 4.5 hours. I was running on fumes in the car with no petrol stations along route and my mobile battery was dead with no car charger so I couldn't even let anyone know where I was or if I was fine. I cried most of the crawl home and now I just get scared. I knew I should have called in sick this morning (especially because I am anyway - got the aircon heating on in my office at 28deg and I still can't feel my hands or feet!)

  • I'm getting pretty worried about the way home. I work in the City (london) and i don't normally finish till 6pm. I have to get a 30 minute train and then because the buses are not working i will have to walk for 45 minutes in the snow. Fingers crossed we will beable to leave early. I will kick up a fuss about 4 though as i'm only 21 and i don't think its safe for me to walk in the dark and the snow at about 7:30 - 8pm on my own. Do you think i have a case?
  • Good luck for your WI tonight Skint - even if you don't make it to class - hopefully your home scales will show a good loss!

I weighed in this morning - 1lb on! :embarasse I was expecting it though, the way I've eaten this week I'm just lucky it wasn't more! I guess upping the exercise has maybe been my saving grace!! Onwards and upwards for next week though...

I've been off work this morning since I had a docs appointment - now I need to plough my way through the snow to get into my closest branch - not looking forward to it!

Had been intending to go to the gym tonight straight from work - but I guess I'll just need to wait and see what happens with the weather!!

emma_jane - I think everyone has a case in this weather! Its not fair for employers to put employees at risk. Hope your trains are still running by then. Is there anyone you know near your work you could stay with if you really have to? I'm guessing I could walk home in just over an hour or so in this sort of weather (normally 30mins at a fair pace).

Yeah I think you have a case - and to be honest - I don't even think I'd leave it as late as 4! Especially not if the snow is going to continue!!

Skinty, same to you - get someone else who lives further away to kick up a fuss!! Walking it isn't really ideal if you're already ill!!

Lovin' the snowman Magicbeans! :rotfl: Just think of all the calories you'll have burnt off running around getting it built!! ;)

Why can't I see magic's snowman? Just get a box with a red X in it though I've seen other peoples photo's in the Arms?
